Hi, I have around £10-13k to spend on a new car.
I want something that will turn heads and be a pleasure to draw in luxury.
The following cars below are what I have in mind and my concerns in brackets about them. Any advice here would be greatly appreciated especially with regards to running costs and reliabilty.
Chrysler 300c (worried about running costs, replacement parts, servicing).
Mercedes C or E class
BMW 3 or 5 series (dont seem to get a lot for your money)
Jaguar X or S type (running costs).
Thanks

chrysler ......... not many dealers around service and spares could be a problem
mercedes ... well overpriced for what they are
bmw ........ as above
jaguar x type just like I have
yes
Before I bought mine I researched prices for servicing etc. main dealers are horrific and some cars can only be done by main dealers or so it seems
I bought my x type from a main dealer but use an independent jaguar specialist for service and the 1 repair I've had in nearly 4 yrs
main dealer service /mot = £565.00
independent service mot =£239.00
also check prices of tyres etc.
some can be nearly £300 per tyre exhausts can be £1000 +
have a look around some owners forums , but they are slightly biased to each model of car
In the end buy what you want , that's what I did after trying allsorts of "luxury" cars
good luck with the search

Lexus IS220D all the luxury and technology with good reliabilty and they can be had quite cheap and well within your budget0

I'd agree with the Lexus, although if you can get absolutely anywhere near what the official mpg is, you're a better person than me!0

Best value for money and with a great Mercedes Engine will be the 300C.
Personaly I think the tourer works better and with the right grille it looks like a Bentley.
Had one a few years ago and it was great to drive.
Still quite rare so that should be a plus.0 -
I'd buy one of these...

Wait a minute... I did.
Edit: If you're worried about running costs then perhaps a luxury car isn't for you!0 -

Thanks for all the replies keep them coming!!
Lexus, hmmmmmmmmm......... not really a head turner!!
My favourite is the 300c, a lot of bang for your bucks! Still worried about running costs, also local dealer just gone out of business!!:(0 -

It shouldn't cost you any more to run than any other car in its class. If you have the cash get a face lift model (post 2008). If you can stretch to the SRT version, you will get sports handling and interior.
Most importantly it will make you smile.

If you put a Chrysler 300C, Merc C220 or E220, BMW 320/520, Jag X or S together then the only car that will turn heads is the 300C. All the rest are plain models that are common. The man without a signature.0
