Ooh think I have an elf! Well he will be! Went into Home Bargains and they had Russ Dolls dressed up as a Dr but the jackets zips off and I have cut the nurse hat off too, i know a nurse hat and dr jacket? strange, anyways if I can get some sort of red/ green jackect and possible a hat he will make do for a good elf I think! Only cost 1.99 too! Need to fine his outfit now though!

dont throw them out - they can be used 1 night a hospital for the toys with bandages, plasters etc.

elf outfit doesnt have to red/green, i have a yellow, a blue, a green & yellow and a mixture - have just added snowflakes etc.

  • hi,

can you have them set up a teddy bears/dolls picnic (convinently with real cakes etc) and a letter saying santa has said they can visit for a few days holiday.

do you have a sandpit? if so can you move it indoors (or cover with a gazebo etc? have the elves playing in it/sat in a deck chair by paddling pool

there are loads of craft kits in wilkinsons/poundland etc, if they are old enough to try simple sewing on plastic canvas have the elves bring them and have started them.

    plaited friendship bracelets???

as you have girls what about anything flowery?

depending on your sewing skills/size of elves could you make or buy t-shirts for them to decorate and wear and leave kid size tshirts and fabric pens for kids to make own?

if i think of anything else i will let u no.

Fantastic thank you. Some great ideas. Also going to get the craft box down in bit. :T

  • twisted angel - not quie the same but may help - when our elves came for the royal wedding (well the 3 prince's royal garden party!) they were found in the morning in "posh" outfits, and were hanging fabric bunting in the gazebo - this amazed the kids as we had spent 2-3days b4 hand colouring in paper flags and made a paper bunting.

we brought them in and sat them on beanbag to watch the wedding on tv, at the end my boys went in kitchen the elves got bunged out the window back in the gazebo (my sister out there) and my boys found them with the fairy cakes (bites taken out!!!)

after we had all eaten my boys played "pin the gem on the crown" (think tail + donkey). at bedtime the elves were put in sleeping bags as per xmas. in the morning there was pics on my camera showing the elves playing the game and 1 elf was still blindfolded! plus the bunting and flags had been brought in and put round my lounge.

so there was stil mischief but non xmasy.

Hurrah ! I have just re-found this thread again.

As its now August i can officially start planning for xmas. My DD (almost 5) was so excited with Snowy Sugar Plum coming to visit last year she loved it. Im now thinking of buying a new elf, a little boy one. It will be snowys best friend who she met at Elf School (DD starts school in September) and they are now inseperable and have to go everywhere together !!

Snowy is still the hot topic of discussion in our house and has been since she went back to the North Pole. Snowy and Father Christmas both explained to DD that Snowy would only be able to return if DD is very very good. Its a threat that works very well if shes being naughty we just say 'Remember if your naughty Snowy might not be able to come back again this year and think how dissapointed she will be' Works a treat :D

Anyway im starting to put together a list of activities the elves will get up to. I thought when we are visiting the grandparents over the next few months Snowy (+ new elf) could secretly come too, that way the elves can go missing in december for a for a few days and will have lots of photos to put in their scrapbook. (As grandparents are a long way away its not possibloe to do this during december).

Ive also been searching a lot on amazon for little treats etc to bring. As DD is starting school i want to focus alot on trying to read and write, so the obvious are christmas reading books and christmassy pens & pencils.

These might be of some help to some people.

Ive also found some adorable elf shoes on amazon that i think will replace DDs shoes one night.

Anyway hope everyone is enjoying their elfy plans.

    More updates soon.

our elves "are not toys" so they are not allowed to play with them. when we find them in the mornings they get put back in their sleeping bags under the tree, unless the elves write a note saying they want to be left etc. occassionally during the day the elves may move (if we're quick enough with kids about etc), but they always go back to tree.

the boys have to make sure elves are in sleeping bags with their magic snow (hole punched paper, glitter, fake snow etc in a sealed bag so dont have to clean it daily) at bed time.

This is our second year of having an elf although first on the thread :j I only decided mid-november last year so wasn't as good but this I'm going all out!! Here's what our mischievious little elf will be up to in the mornings in no particular order (will admit some are just variations on others :o!)

    1. Toilet paper around the house
    2. Leaves sweeties for dd
    3. Hides in fridge
    4. Watching xmas dvd with some other teddies
    5. Hosting a tea party with teddies
    6. Although put to bed under the tree will be in bed with dd
    7. Reading xmas books
    8. Eaten lots of sweeties, sitting in all the wrappers
    9. Zip wiring between the bedrooms
    10. Decorating dd's bedroom tree with her knickers
    11. Hanging off the xmas tree
    12. Camping with an igloo, LED flame tea-light and marshmellows
    13. Wraps up dd's shoes in xmas paper
    14. Looking for dd after school with loo-roll binoculars
    15. In a mess with all the xmas dvds
    16. Making gingerbread men
    17. Snowball (cotton wool) fight with other teddies
    18. Dvd's stacked like steps to get to table with sweets
    19. Bath of marshmellows
    20. Brings dd a gift of xmas play-doh (thanks to home bargains!)
    21. Brings xmas crafts

Also the elf arrives with dd's advent calendar, there will be an xmas note book of all the good things dd has done and the things she needs to improve on to give to Santa and the elf will give dd her xmas eve hamper before going home with Santa.

Can you tell I cant wait lol!!
