It's my DS's birthday early next month and I'm going to have the elves visit for the day, kids will be so surprised! Just got to think of what mischief/treat they can do/bring. Need something for when son wakes in morning and something for when he gets home from school.

My DD1's birthday is not long after and I've got some white star fairy lights (75% off in sainsburys) that I'm going to have the elves wrap round her bedhead for when she wakes on her birthday.

Buddy has sent the kids an email with a photo of him and his new baby brother who was born on Christmas day. I used an old rag doll that my dd had in a kit as the baby, I drew a face on the back of the head (my dd had already drawn on the front!) and wrapped a bit of felt around it's body to hide the clothes it already had! I even cut a little bit of Buddy's hair to go on the baby. The kids won't actually see the baby in real life, just photos so hopefully it is convincing enough! I'm going to put the photo on facebook too, yummy mummy amy - you may want to show your children as the baby is named in honour of a very prestigious visiting elf who is very helpful to everyone lol! Hope you don't mind!
  • Hiya, I'm really new to this board but I'm intrigued with the Elf thing, can someone please explain it to me? I think my kids would love it!
  • Was a bit of a lurker last year but hope to get involved this year!! Anyway there is a rodney reindeer on lakeland website down to 99p, thought he would make a good friend for the elf!

    hi and welcome.

the elf thing - you buy or make an elf/rag doll etc and make it as christmassy as you want to - none of my elves are red/green nor do they have pointy ears, some people even use animals.

the elves are sent by santa (can be at childs request) to watch over the kids and make sure they are good etc, they report back to santa.

BUT the elves get into mischief along the way - read the activities on 1st page. plus they leave the kids gifts and things to do etc.

the elves leave with santa on xmas eve.

if you google magic elf tradition you will find alot of sites with more info, but please come back here as we are very friendly and share lots of ideas.

IF you want a "propper" elf magic elf, they will charge you £90 shipping from USA to england. BUT if your happy with a "normal elf" then seach ebay - elf, leprechaun, pixie, ragdoll, auora (make of a rag doll but very cute), dwarf etc.

my 1st elf (bertie elfkins) was a 7-dwarfe from snow whiet, i added xmas ribbon to his hat and belt, added a bell to his hat and shoes. my 2nd elf jingle-jangle is an auora rag doll wearing yellow/lime green, i added metal snowflakes to his hat, shoes and jumper along with 2 reindeer buttons, 3rd elf was an xmas rag doll, she has white snowflakes added to her stripey top, annd 4th ekf is an auora girl doll. she will be wearing a red dress from argos build a bear.

  • Hello All,

My elf has arrived!!! I am soooooooo excited, dont know how I managed to keep the excitement to a minimum when the postman knocked on the door!!

If you search "Plush Santa's Secret Elf Boy" this is him. There is also a girl version that I think may make an apperance in our house hold too later in December!!! A visiting little sister maybe?

Silly as it sounds I couldnt put him back in the packaging he arrived in, I felt a bit mean stuffing him back into the dark lol!! I will have to source a clear plastic box for him to go in so he can see out!!!

I managed to get some bargins last week from Wilkinsons in the sale, got some activity sticker books, magic painting, and various different christmas crafty packs for 25p each. From the £1 shop I got some christmas aprons and reindeer nose and antlers for the car and more crafty packs for 50p each.

:rudolf: Love this thread, thank you :xmassmile
