I have been looking around to find a good priced breakdown cover i normally renew with first call, I have been with them a few years but never called them out and therefore do not know how their service is and now their requirement about having to prove servicing your car concerns me.
I have come across 2gether insurance which provides breakdown cover similar to first call but slightly cheaper, I have never heard of them has anyone had any experieince with them?

I am interested in the full UK cover with home start0 -

Hi
I want to get breakdown cover with either the RAC or AA. RAC has personnel or vehical cover and i'm confused in which one is the best. I want roadside assistance, homestart and towing to home or garage.
At the moment i have a flat battery, well not me but my car. Will the RAC come to me even if i'm not a member and how much would they charge for a jump start? I have the leads but so far no neighbour has offered to give me a jump start.0 -

Have you asked a neighbour to give you a jump start or could you ask a friend to give a jump start.
If you choose personal cover you get At home cover for free.0 -
I don't know my neighbours but if I see one getting in their car then i'll ask but I don't want to annoy one by knocking on their door. I've only been here since May.0

totally_organic wrote: »Just a quick note to say don't just accept the renewal price when it comes through. AA sent mine through today and I was genuinely shocked - £199.50. So I called them - first man I spoke to knocked off about £40 straight away, lady after that took off another £40, I then knocked off the 'relay' as think I just took it as an introductory offer last year bringing my renewal down to £97 for roadside+homestart for two people (would be £106 if I joined AA online today). I accept I could of got it cheaper still by going to the RAC and getting cashback but have been alternating between the 2 companies for 3 years now and decided it was just getting a bit silly - last winter the girlfriend called the RAC out when we were covered by the AA...!
I too got caught oput by this and stupidly hadn't realised these companies all operate on the same basis as the motor insurance companies... they'll give you a price to come to them and then raise the price by 30% odd. I was with greenflag and left them as a result, came back the next year at the lower "hook price" and this I'm going to try signing up as a new customer just to see if their system is smart enough to spot it... childish fun I know but I felt particularly peeved by greenflag so as I need to shop around I amy as well play some games with them along the way.0 -
First Call GB UK breakdown insurance.
My advise would be to make First Call your Last call.
This breakdown service provider is the worst I have ever used. Yes they are cheap but they certainly won't make you chearfull.
The company is always trying to riggle out of its service obligations by trying to charge you for a service you believed you have already paid for.
On one occasion when my car broke down I was told I would have to wait for one hour before rescue. In fact the waiting time was two hours plus the initial call to the breakdown centre took a very lengthy 25 minutes to complete all their numerous questions. Why the extra hours wait? The mechanic was given my wrong location.
I later complained about this to their customer services department and recieved a very abrupt response.
I cancelled my membership on response to this reply and will never ever use them again:mad:0 -
