For all those who are now preparing budgets in readiness for 2011, I've started a thread for that purpose.

Frugal Living 2011 - the preparation stage

I'll post more about how my budget's panning out in terms of amounts for each category (and what the full list of my categories is) on there in the next few days.

In the meantime please feel free to post there if you want help deciding what to include/exclude, if you want some help deciding whether your category budgets are 'about right' or realistic (baring in mind there's no right or wrong as long as you're comfortable with your own figures and can afford them :)), want someone to cast an eye over your categories in case they spot something you've missed (easily done), or just want advice in general :)

Congratulations to Natalie, I hope you and the baby are well.

I've not much time to chat, but just updating my numbers to the end of November. 29 Day left of this year, golly where did that time go?

I have spent $13,143.42 out of my budgeted $15,000 for the year. It seems like I have loads left, but most of what remains is already accounted for. I am sure I will be a wee bit under, although I do plan to stock up a bit for next year if there's any spare grocery budget. :D Currently looks like I will have about $100 to play with.

Hope you all keep safe and warm in the freezing weather.

  • thanks for all the congrats :) - i am reading, just busy. Have finalised and posted 2011 budget.... Baby is an angel. Sleeps all night with feed 5-6 hours and rarely cries. He is 9 days old now and was 8lb 9oz born (midwife converted 3.900kg wrong!) and on day 6 was 8.5 so a very healthy and happy boy. I have the other kiddies off school as it is a long drive and i don't want to risk it in the snow. It is only a week or 2 and it will be gone (i hope) and it is lovely to not leave the house! (have been in for 2 days now! - bliss)

Yummy bolognese for the kids for dinner (i batch cooked some the other day) but i am having sweet n sour quorn nuggets and HM chips (treated myself to 3 for #5 qorn meals in tesco as i love them) - enjoy your evening all :)
DFW since JAN 2009 - 2014 will be the year i finally clear debts :) Just to see which month :))))

Sparkle - congratulation on your baby news !

Have updated figures for Nov into siggy - looks like expensive month, but won't need much for Dec, as most Xmas stuff already in. So with a budget of £5500 all in and only 29 days left - have come in under budget by £1399.74.

Even allowing for adding Dec fig's on, will still come in under - can't believe I've mananged it. yaaaaay :j:j:j If you'd told me this time last year that I could live on so little, I wouldn't have believed it !!!

I missed that somehow ... congrats Sparkle! :T

I have a few expensive things outstanding but am still on target for this year ... and nervously anticipating what cuts I will HAVE to make for next year.
Trying to spend less time on MSE so I can get more done ... it's not going great so far! :)
Sorry if I don't reply to posts - I'm having MAJOR trouble keeping up these days!
