So far for my Christmas Hampers I have made...

  • This christmas is a skint christmas for us, but NOT a miserable christmas. I love the christmas hamper ideas - I am going to copy recipes and ideas. I am going to buy material cut-offs, lace/ribbon oddments, paper pieces, wool and put together craft kits for all my godchildren and children of friends (perhaps put in some of those colourful, cheap paper bags with instructions on how to make a fairy or mermaid). Children prefer these kinds of things, and they hold their interest alot longer than many expensive toys. I find that books tend to last as well and I am going to use abebooks/charity shops for good quality second hand books - stack lots of cheap ones in a pile, cover in brown packaging paper tie up with ribbon and maybe a pen/notepad for them to write their own.

My youngest loves christmas for the letters she gets from father christmas. My husband writes her the funniest, sweetest replies which are inspired by JRR Tolkien's 'Father Christmas Letters' - he uses some of the same characters and has added others so that we have a whole North Pole world which keeps us all laughing for hours on christmas day.

I have made some soaps... melt in microwave, add colour and smell and then pour into mould.... easy peasy! I love it!:j

I also bought some of those flexible rubber ice cube moulds (shells, hearts, penguins etc) and used them - they are perfect for soap, easy to get the soap out and make nice little noveltys. I have put 10 in a bag with a ribbon round the top.

I also made some with rose petals in them.... ooooh get me! :rotfl:

Where have you got the soap making bit from?

  • Thats who I ordered off, bought on sunday, not heard anything yet.

Well I for one will not be buying from this seller again. What a rude woman. Her emails express terrible attitude towards her buyers. Because I had emailed her as to not having received my order yet, I get patronising, rude replies

Sounds like you may stil have a bit to wait if this reply is anything to go by:

With respect Claire, we state 3 working days (Mon - Friday) for handling, and post by our standard rate (2nd class), which takes an additional 1 - 3 posting days (Mon - Sat). Given that everyone is buying ready for Christmas, and sellers and the postal service are already getting really busy, a week is not at all unfeasible. Sorry if I sounded a bit off, but to be honest buyer expectations generally on Ebay are nothing short of amazing. Your order was paid after close of business Wednesday, which leaves us able to despatch on either Thursday, Friday or Monday to be within our 3 working days as stated. Not wishing to quibble, it's not even a day late yet ...... but I hope it arrives tomorrow for you, then both of us will be happy and can leave each other alone. Kind regards, Anne

I got the base soap from https://www.meltandpoursupplies.com they aren't the cheapest though (they add VAT and £6 p&p on at the end) but I was doing a fairly big order.

Just do a search for melt and pour soap and you should find something - I think it is usually around £3 a kilo which makes a decent amount of soap to be going on with.

    Hope this helps.

My intention was not to steer business away from her just wanted to see what other peoples reactions were to the emails she sent me. I was thinking it might just have been me taking them the wrong way but I think your post proves the general reaction, so thank you! :T
