Tax rebate SUCCESSES

Should I receive more cheques or just the one for 2011/2012? Confused:mad:
If these are P800s? Then there is only one cheque and it will be for the value of the final figure on the last (11/12?) computation.
You can't add them up as HMRC have already done that. Which is the 'adjustment' figure that starts on the next to earliest year P800. So the net under / over payment gets carried through the years to produce a single figure on the last computation. If you want to test the depth of the water .........don't use both feet !0 -
After 6 months of writing to my HMRC office, HMRC Complaints, my MP, Treasury Minister (David Gauke) and the Ombudsman, I am no nearer today at getting any response from this useless organisation than I was when they mugged me for £500 in January 2012. The level of incompetence within this arrogant, unaccountable government department is bewildering and symptomatic of a much deeper problem that would not be tolerated in any organisation outside the public sector. The government needs to act to bring the HMRC under control - and quickly.0

Just got a letter through for a tax rebate of £562.60 after I followed the advice! Woohooooo!! Thank you Mr Martin!!0

It's now 7 months. The useless HMRC has finally admitted incompetence, but still I have to wait until a second HMRC review of my case has been completed before I can put my case to the Adjudicator, claim compensation for all the stress and financial loss their negligence has caused. The first review took over 5 months to complete. If this amateurish organisation runs true to form, the money they mugged me for will have lost half it's value to inflation before I get it back. What a bunch of w***kers.0

I normally ignore the MSE suggestion to check tax as I supplied my employer with a P45 when I started with them 18 months ago and my salary felt about right.
Seeing the email I thought I'd check my code as I had my payslip handy and I was surprised to see my code was "BR". Digging out older slips I saw I'd been on basic rate tax since I started which seemed odd.
Checked with my employer who had no record of my P45 and no code had been sent to them by HMRC.
Quick call to HMRC who confirmed I'm an 810L - they've refunded just under £1500 for last year and are updating my employer so I'll be £130 better off each month going forward!
Moral of the story, even if you think your tax is right it's worth checking it!0 -

a big thank you to MSE :A. After using the tax code calculator, I surprisingly discovered that I had overpaid by £385 for this tax year. I rang HMRC on the 16.3.13 who confirmed I had overpaid as far back as 2008. I received a cheque for £303 on the 25.3.13 :j:beer:0
