Tax rebate SUCCESSES

After reading the guide I checked My P60's and spoke to the Tax office about 3 weeks ago.
I was told yesterday that my coding for 2008/09 was wrong, and that a Cheque was in the post for £350 or so.

i must say the tax man has always paid rebates promptly.
I wish they were a client0 -
I am retired from one of the UK emergency services and now live in Spain. I regularly read this website and have passed it to family in the UK. I read the information about incorrect tax codes on this website and discovered that my private pension tax code has been wrong for 2 years. I have now received a cheque from the tax authorities giving me a full refund. I would not have known about this if I had not been informed through this site. Thanks Martin.0

At the risk of sounding really dumb, can someone clarify something for me. I received tonight information from HMRC that I've overpaid tax since 2006. I've got three documents:
2006-07 - refund £1196
2008-09 - combined with previous year = £2354
2009-10 - refund £1198
My confusion is that on 2009-10 the cover sheet says 'This includes an overpayment for an earlier year'. Does this mean I will get £2354 refund or £3552?
Thanks for your help.0 -

If they arrive together then the normal convention is that the net under/over payment is summarised on the final year. If (see the P800 Notes that also arrived?) there is a '16' on the right side of the 09-10 P800 then the overall repayment is likely to be that figure?
But it is relatively straightforward - with a cup of coffee - to track the figures through the 3 x years in order to confirm? If you want to test the depth of the water .........don't use both feet !0 -
Ah, that'll be the £2354 figure then?0

Thanks Mike, they came two separate envelopes. 2009-10 was sent separately and the other two together.0

Aaaah ..... probably makes a difference. But is there not a '16' against both the 08/09 and the 09/10 P800s?
You are certain that - in isolation you did overpay in 09/10? As all the figures look remarkably similar. If 09/10 has been processed in isolation then the comment about it including an earlier year overpayment is puzzling indeed.
I'm mindful you've previously posted about a refund already received for '08-10'?If you want to test the depth of the water .........don't use both feet !0
