since last week asda are really cracking down on coupons.
all tills are now set to ask for a supervisor once your coupons reach £5 (even if this is less than 10% of your shopping) or if you use more than 5 coupons (again, even if this comes to less than the 10%).
i haven't encountered a problem yet with using coupons where i haven't purchased the item though.
you must've had a meanie supervisor!0 -
Oadby ASDA today, went to my really nice girl on the till who takes off as many coupons as you give her. After four coupons, the till was pre-set to refuse any more coupons and my fifth coupon was automatically voided. Managed to get £3.50 off though luckily.
The girl said that since last week ASDA (locally or nationwide??) have decided to crack down on misuse of coupons, because of abuse by people. It is due to people trying to get their whole shop for nothing through the self service tills, she thinks.
Must make sure in future my four allowed coupons are high value ones if possible, or use up my ones coming up to their use-by date.A chicken crossing the road is poultry in motion0 -
Not been to Asda for a while, i must admit it gets scary using coupons sometimes and even if only low value ones.0

can you use Asda coupons in Tesco? If product is selling there ?0

I tried to use the wkd coupon at self checkout, i scanned it and it said something like "seek supervisor for assistance".
she then did some crap and gave me 50p off my shop.0 -
yes I always put mu high value coupons (£1 or more ) on top of the pile when so if they inly take 4 or 5 its still worthwhile.0

I went to Asda last night and used 8 coupons on self-scan with a combined value of £16. They all scanned okay and I paid in cash. Only when I put the final penny in did a message come up on screen. It said something like "assistance needed" and the SA came over and authorised them.
This is different to Tesco where the "authorisation needed" message comes up after just one or two coupons. I believe this is because a lot of Tesco self-scan tills are programmed to ask for approval once you've gone over 30% of the total although it probably varies between stores.0 -

I'm all for money saving and using coupons when appropriate, but mass hoarding/presenting of coupons is greedy. Could these be the same people that take as many free samples as possible, so that by the time I get there they're all gone?"He who asks questions cannot avoid the answers"0
