Not a NSD today as DH needed flu remedies!

I have started a christmas saving card at the supermarket so even if I put £1 on each week that will be £52 by Christmas 2011.

DD, DS and myself had lunch at the in-laws which was lovely as I didn't have to prepare it, cook or tidy up. It always tastes nicer when someone else makes it for you.
Right I am now going to empty the dishwasher, sort out the drying and make up the sofabed. No doubt DD will be hungry again soon, I don't know where she puts it all!

That's a good idea - it would at least pay for the extras for the big day:) Is that for Mr S or Mr T?

Have been busy today cleaning bedrooms so will prob help with losing some weight too:D I do love the start of the new year as everyone is so optimistic - long may it last eh:)
    Payment A Day £15 (started 17/5/14) :j

    Hi Boysma
The savings card is for Mr A, I normally shop at Mr S and so manage to save all the N points for Christmas but I thought a pound a week is manageable and if I don't go to Mr As one week I'll just save it on Mr S christmas card.
I need to give my whole house a good blitz, its had swishes and swipes all Christmas but it needs a damn good sorting. The trouble is I spend far too much time on here and also trying to think up ways to earn more money! I will re-focus, optimism is a good thing!:T

    Hi Pennywisepoundstupid

I love your name, it sums me up!

Thanks for subscribing to my diary I am just going to head over and subscribe to yours.

    All the best for 2011
  • Hi Choogirl,

I've just read your diary and it sounds as if you are doing really well.

I'm lucky in the fact that I don't have any debt but I don't have a lot of spare £s either so I quite often lurk on this site and get tips and ideas.

I saw that you mentioned the Sealed Pot Challenge and all I can say is DO IT....:D I started during the first one and over the past few years it once paid for a new washing machine and this year my DB and I used it to buy a Wii Fit.

It is a really friendly thread and it is SO eay to do - and it's surprising on how much the little amounts add up.

Anyway, if you do decide to join, good luck and keep saving.

    Happy New Year,

    Trying to Save

    Hi Tryingtosave

Happy New Year to you and thanks for reading my diary.

Once I am out of this ridiculous self-induced scenario I am going to start some serious saving as well. I am going to start the sealed pot challenge as it looks really straightforward but obviously worthwhile by judging what you have bought with yours. I can't stress enough how fantastic these boards are I just keep on getting ideas that I would never have thought of.

Good Luck with your saving xx:T

    Good Morning

I have had a fantastic nights sleep in my own warm double bed, there was no tossing and turning, toilet visits, duvet ruffling, re-adjusting the covers, shaking the duvet down and best of all no nasty smells (may I add at this moment these are all my DHs traits and not mine). :rotfl:
DH is still really ill although he is asking for tea and toast and also told me last night at 10pm that he has a craving for peaches and icecream so I can feel a visit to a supermarket looming this morning, I might try Aldi for a change just so that I can't be distracted by anything else that Mr S has to offer.
Actually thats given me a really good idea, instead of poping into Mr A or Mr S when I just need one or two things I might just go to Aldi that way I will know that I really can't be tempted by clothes, housewares and any other rubbish that I really don't need.

Right off to see to the invalid, feed the kids and tackle the mountain of ironing before it buries the cat!:j
