Tulip - I think she means DLA. DLA being disability living allowance. This is based on care and /or mobility needs. You can work and claim this.

I might get diarrhea tomorrow shall I then ask for a handout?

Try having diarrhoea for the best part of 3 and a half years and come back and then tell me it's fun. I lost at least half a stone this way (not recommended) and have problems with my skin now, too. So much so that I can't even use soft toilet roll (double velvet and the like) without bleeding.

  • Or try having bowels that have been permanently open for 40 years because of botched surgery at birth. No fun having to wear nappies 24 hours a day. I managed to get a University degree and 4 jobs including running my own company employing more than 20 people. I had no idea that my condition was even covered by any benefits until I suffered clinical depression caused by simultaneous divorce, business collapse and bankruptcy. When I claimed ESA I originally only mentioned the depression (I was in a mental hospital) as I didn't know anyone even cared about incontinence.

I have checked my posts and I can't find anywhere where I mentioned having diarrhea was to quote you "fun". Half a stone!! is that really worth mentioning? Its a very small amount to lose and please don't waste your time trying to tell me that 1/2 a stone is alot. I have suffered far far worse than that.
Its clear the original post mentioned the diarrhea aspect as another reason to justify getting some kind of benefit based on a medical condition, alot of people throw in "extras" to try and convine the benefit people that they should be entitled to benefit. May sound harsh and I am not saying everyone does it but having had experience in filling out dla forms the more you say you have wrong with you the more chance you have of getting benefit.

It left me underweight. It's not a small amount to lose when you're just above the lower BMI for your height, as I was.

You are so ignorant, it's unbelievable. I have to take medication whenever I have an attack of diarrhoea. I am lucky if I a) make it to the toilet in time, and b) don't end up in loads of pain after.

For you information I mentioned the diarrhea aspect (as you call it), because it is a TRUE symptom my daughter suffers, not a made up one to justify anything. I am not adding any extras to increase her chances of benefit. Her illness is what it is, I am no Dr, and dont understand why it happens, but it does, and she cant control it.

So it may be clear in your opinion, your interpretation of my post - but in mine it is just the truth, all i wanted was advice....thats all.

Sometimes the truth hurts. Medication?? Loperamide perhaps? Dear me your "problems" do seem somewhat miniscule compared to a great deal of others who get refused dla. I dread to think what bleating you would do should you suffer a greater illness. The mind boggles!!
