... i got about £300 worth for £130 so would be a good saving in all

I don't think you've got £300 worth of firworks. You've got £130 worth and the difference is advertising hype. I thought artificial RRPs had been banned by the ASA. If not, they should be!

Is It Just Me Or Are Fireworks Over Rated?
I Think They Should Be Banned!!! Just Go To An Organised Avent At Least Then They Will Only Go On For A Weekend And Stop At A Reasonable Time Of Night.

    Wonder if
theres a sort of "Compare prices" for Buying Fireworks at usual stores (ie asda morrisons, tesco. etc.

So we can just look at the stores see who got best offers then. ??
  • For anyone who can get into a JTF warehouse their fireworks are bargain prices. We had some last year and they were of fantastic quality!! The rockets were the best we have ever had! Download the fireworks brochure from this link:

I totally agree - excellent value for money! Got mine from the Newcastle branch. I bought a single barrage last year (along with some rockets), the barrage was 245 shots and went on for about 10 mins. This year I bought a 888 shot one :)

Plus I feel it's safer to light just one firework than a box of 30 or 40!

  • The best place I've found to get fireworks the last couple of years is a shop called Hyper Value. They have branches all over South Wales and the West and they are the best value for money.
They have plenty of bogof offers, not only on boxes, but also on packs of rockets and multi-shot fireworks. Prices vary from £1 to around £30, with the £30 box being a rival to most professional displays!
  • I visited both Lidl and Aldi yesterday. Aldi offered a better selection and value for money.

If you live in Norfolk/Suffolk and have a Godfreys DIY near you go there. They also have some great BOGOF deals. If I hadnt already spent £30 at Aldi I would have got a better deal there.

Also have a look in Homebase, unlikely as it may seem they have BOGOF deals too

i get mine from tesco, bogof. they were great last year. although some of the websites mentioned seem to be quite good too. we have friends over and try to get people to put in some money or bring their own fireworks. this keeps the price down and means we all have a great night. worth pointing out that our local mp is trying to get fireworks banned only letting organised displays. too much for some pets seems that this is another attempt for the goverment to stop the average person enjoying themselves and to allow the goverment to control everything. wont be voting for him next time.

I wish they were banned so that there was only organised displays. That way my dogs wouldn't be having kittens every night from Oct 15th to Jan 1st!!!!!!!

Seriously, You can't beat a few quid for a fantastic half hour display. You would have to pay hundreds of pounds to get anywhere near as good in your own back garden. I don't understand why people bother, judging by the cost of fireworks I reckon the average family spends as much on Nov 5th as they do Dec 25th!!!!
