Looking for a little advice about android tablets.
I want to get one in place of an ereader. I have tried a few ereaders in shops and I know the flicker that occurs on page turns would make me dizzy (inner ear thing - everything makes me dizzy).
I'd like an ipad with the kinds app, but think the ipad is overpriced (and over budget) to just use it for that.
So am thinking an android tablet would be the middle ground. Since I can't seem to find an ereader without the page turn flicker.
So, since I know zip about android, I thought I'd ask the experts. What andoid version would the tablet need to have to run the kindle app?
Thanks,

Requires Android OS 1.6 or greater

From amazon's website.
Most will come with 2.1 Android I imagine.

some might be running 1.6 depending on the support/new spec0 -
Thanks. Is there anything else I should look for?
It will be only used for ebooks and a little browsing but I don't want it to run super slow. Any minimum specs I should look for?Sigless0 -
Also, do they all come with the android market place?Sigless0

probably worth buying from somewhere in the UK for DSR return purposes as most of the cheap Android devices have cheap low quality resistive screens. I would think they would be pretty hard on the eye if used as an e-reader.
As you have found good quality capacitive screens used on the likes of the iPad and Samsung Tab are still expensive.====0 -
I'm not so sure about that, I can remember reading an article in which it was stated that Google had a restriction on allowing access to the Market for devices without inbuilt GSM Radio (telephone features).
A quick search on Google seems that is still true, so it is probably safer researching any model you might be interested in to ensure is has the Market.
http://news.softpedia.com/news/Android-and-Android-Market-Not-Optimized-for-Tablets-Google-Says-156002.shtml“But the way Android Market works is it's not going to be available on devices that don't allow applications to run correctly.
Which devices do, and which don't will be unit specific, but Froyo is not optimized for use on tablets,” Hugo Barra continues.
EDIT
it seems from further reading none of the cheap tablets will have Market, the only way the Galaxy Tab has it is because it is essentially an oversize Galaxy S.

I'm not expecting wonders and ipad slickness, just a bot of browsing and kindle app support.Sigless0 -
