With the planned attempts to get unemployed in to SLAVE labour - what will happen to the thousands of ESA claimants who are denied benefits after 12 months of entitlement to contribution based benefits being forced into "menial" employment - litter scavenging and grafitti removing - on pain of losing their benefits completely...

Any thoughts on the situation ??.....

And they shouldn't work for their Benefits because.....? I'm sick of people getting money for nothing, it will be nice to see the country litter and grafitti free for a change.

Working will do a lot for them, it will give them self esteem and a sense of worth as well as structure and meaning to their life . I think it will do everyone good, if ppl do work which benefits those of us who need a bit of help, like the elderly then they will feel so good for doing it . There is nothing like a bit of self sacrificing to bring out the best in us, it will do us good to see how those who need a bit of help live and to help them. I hope so anyway, I am only going by how I feel with my job, which I am so lucky to have and to love doing. Let's give it a try anyway we've got nothing to lose after all.

Can you even go onto contribution based JSA from the same ESA? Not my area of expertise. Some on contribution based ESA will be able to go onto Income Based anyway.

I'm repeating myself but no one knows yet the criteria for this JSA scheme.

I expect they will along with the others have to do the £1 an hour work. One thing for sure, we will have clean towns and cities!

Being serious, if they cannot get all the 18-25 year olds who are unemployed doing something, they have a cat in hells chance with the rest us. Easy cure. If no one votes Lib Dem in any election, the coalition will fall apart and the Labour party will get back in, maybe some of the needed changes will still take place, but at a slower pace.

The big shame is that 1p in the £1 on tax would pay for all the essential benefits.

If we didnt have to pay so much in benefits then maybe the working people could pay 1p less in tax for every £1 they earned!

I am quite sure you are right. But then we can have both if all those who evade tax £8.4 billion paid what they owed.
