one final thought.

Can you use an internet cafe? - this uses a different internet connection and a different machine - thus removing 2 possible variables from your problem. If you still can't access the BA website from there, then you really are stuck.

Or if you have a laptop, try taking it to a wifi hot spot and try connecting (thus removing the variable of your own dsl connection)

But when we never had the net you had to phone or visit a flight/holiday store.

Go to a travel agent or the airport.

I have no clue why BA is blocking your connection but if it were me i'd do the above than be stranded

Thanks for your replies. I tried disabling the proxy settings but no luck. And my friends told me that entering my card details in the net cafe around here is unsafe.

Haven't you heard of rip-off britain? Sounds like BA are only wanting to sell to brits at their uk website prices and may well have different prices for different markets.
BA aren't known for being cheap - how much is their fare vs other fares? Can you stick to quotes you have personally had.
How desperate is desperate? I guess you used the wrong word.

No reports as far as I can see saying BA sites are blocked in Germany.

Has OP checked either with friends in Germany or Internet Cafe that BA site is accessible to them?

As Rossy says, Go to a travel agent or the airport.

OP has been given good suggestions but doesn't seem keen to take them up.

Thanks for the replies and no i haven't checked in the net cafe because of what my friends told me i.e. that it's not safe to give out my card details in the net cafe. I have checked with other friends in a different block of flats and it's the same there.

at least try a net cafe to see if you can get to the uk site. if you cant then i would imagine ba must route german ip addresses (or non uk ones) differently, but normally they would redirect you to the german site, so i dont believe this is the case.

you can then browse the site to find the exact flight you want, then at least all you have to do is ring and book the seat
