I would safely erase the hard disk with DBAN. Selling a (broken) laptop without it reduces the price by more than the hard disk is worth.

Why do people keep recommending selling PCs without hard disk when there are ways (certified by the DoD) to destroy all data on it?
    Whats DBAN ?

As previous have said, take the HDD out and then sell it (the laptop).

Remove the HDD from any mountings that belong to the laptop itself and replace those on the laptop.

It might not work on your laptop as it seems to be broken. So you need to connect the hard disk to your desktop with an adapter and boot from the CD. Make sure you're erasing the right hard disk, so you better disconnect all other hard disks.

As previously said, since the original laptop isn't working, the OP will have to remove the HDD, caddy it up, connect it to another machine, DBAN it, then replace it in the original machine. Just removing it and keeping it is easier.....

Advice on how to get the machine working is in your previous threads, if you are going to sell it, reinstall windows from recovery partition, and wipe free space with ccleaner wipe free space option.

Have you tried running the laptop to an external monitor?
That's the way to find out if it's the screen itself is broken.
It is also useful input for potential buyers on ebay.
As others have said, you should put the disk caddy/bracket/mountings back even if you remove the HD.
