Threatening to stop my JSA, non applying for a job

  • Well, I rang them up today and all they told me is to wait it out and maybe apply now for the hardship payments. Wish I knew what was happening, everyone seems to say different things.

Anyway, my partner has an interview on Monday so hopefully we won't even need to be on jobseekers soon, and it'll be good riddance :T

Whether he gets a job or not, I would fight it

Part of the Furniture Combo Breaker
Grrr OH took in his form for hardship (was only given it last week after I asked an advisor about our situation) and the JC told him that it can't be backdated, so as our sanction period is now up we can't get any help.

Ridiculous that if we had filled it in the day we were given it it still would have been near pointless.

Taking the time to visit the CAB & JC got us absolutely nowhere. To make matters worse our PC is broken too, we have no money to pay the bills never mind fix it. :(
A waist is a terrible thing to mind.
  • Got my decision through this morning (great timing) - thankfully, they agreed with me, so no stop of benefits. Had several job interviews recently, and had to cancel 2 (due to laryingitis!) so things are looking up at last.

hope you managed to get the some luck on the job front my partner had another letter last week saying he didnt apply for a job back in oct but it was for a experience multi drop driver and he needed a certain licence for it so we stated this and he high lighted it and sent it off another waiting game for us now, hes been on job seekers for ages now had his first interview last fri and was supposed to hear monday but hasnt heard nothing gutting i was so hopeful for him.

hes currently on working links at the mo and has to apply for x amount of jobs in 2 weeks they want 20 but hes averaging 11 which is good seeing theres no jobs around unless you have experience, hes applied for 5 today so fingerscrossed he had an email back from one saying no but chin up
  • Went in today, it has now gone to the decision maker. Whilst I was there they tried to report me to the decision maker yet another time as I didn't fill in the 'Looking for work' (ES4JP) to the advisors satisfaction - I had written 5 things down for the week (weekly signing), yet this wasn't deemed enough - whereas every other advisor I have seen always tell me that 2-3 is ample, as long as 1 of those is a job application.

She kept saying, it's contracted to me to do so, I've signed it etc, whereas if I read the contract 3 steps per week is what it states (ie, looking in paper, looking on internet, applying for a job) - I had gone above and beyond this with 5, of which 4 were jobs! She was having none of it, told me I needed to fill in a certain form which then went to another decision maker - it was only when I took out a folder with copies of the applications I had sent that she finally relented. She says the new government are wanting at least 1 sheet per week (7 entries) and that it is covered in my contract.

I appreciate and can do 7, no problems - just think the way they are going about it is totally wrong, really felt dehumanised in there today.
I know just how you feel ,i went to sign on on friday and some awful woman made me feel like i was something she had trod in! She said i was not filling enough info in and had not applied for any jobs that fortnight ,i had filled in 6 days as required .As i am 58 and looking for retail work jobs are few and far between and i am doing all i can to find work. She spoke to me in front of everyone in the jobcentre for all to hear and i felt totaly demoralised .She is now stopping my money for 2 weeks ,and when i asked how i was going to live she just stared at me and never answered.I came out of there in tears and is has affected me badly for the past 3 days.I have phoned up and said i want to appeal and also make a complaint against her .It probably wont get me anywhere but i feel she should not be able to get away with treating people this way.
