Morning everyone,
After realising that I can now post I can now get back up to speed with the debt; I spent most of yesterday thinking and when I was in bed last night.
I won’t say that I am sleeping properly as there are some nights when I wake up and I can’t go back to sleep and I think about the debt but I guess that’s the same for most people. Last night I managed to sleep all the way through which has helped me focus this morning.
I want to aim for 15 NSD’s in June; I have to do something to curb my Tesco habit lol.
I have ordered the food for when DH gets paid, £326 this includes alcohol. This will go up once DH gets paid as I need to buy meat and veg/fruit. The reason it is high is that I have included stuff for DH and the kids for lunches for the month too. I aiming to try and get this reduced generally but I think I need to build up what is there first, if that makes sense?
DH is working at the flying club on Saturday, so that’ll be a NSD and I am aiming to get some of the housework done that day.
The kids and I are off to the park today for a teddy bears picnic with a friend of ours and her kids. Should be a good time as the weather is going to be nice.
Have a good day everyone.0 -
Went to the park today with a friend and her boys, we both took a picnic and another friend of ours turned up as well; 4 hours later we finally left, the kids thoroughly enjoyed themselves and it was good to have some girly chat.
On another good note....NSD #1 achieved0 -
Sounds like you had a fantastic day0

Taxi - It was lovely, I've never spent so much time at the park before.0

Morning everyone,
Still a bit wary that my posts are going to disappear but so far so good I think. Not much to report moneywise today, it’s not going to be a NSD today as I need to get some bits from Tesco’s, my friend is cutting my hair and I’m supposed to be out tonight with some old colleagues of mine, but hopefully it won’t be a huge spend day.
On the other hand I have got lots of housework I need to get done today….I lead such an exciting life!
I need to go through the freezer and figure out if we have enough food in there to last us until DH’s payday and if we don’t I need to see if I can concoct some sort of meal plan for the next 12 days.
Have a good day everyone.0 -
Hi Tea,
good to see you back on regular posting
I need to cull my grocery habit too ...0 -
Morning peeps,
Didn’t post yesterday, had a bad day with the kids on Friday which resulted in hubby kicking me out of the house to spend some time with my old work colleagues…He’s lovely he really is. As a result I spent some money which we couldn’t afford but not much got really drunk and had a hangover to suit.
Anyway, hubby said today that its done me good to have a blow out as I was getting too stressed…maybe he was right I don’t know but do regret spending the money.
Anyhow moving on; I have joined the NSD challenge, I used to do that regularly but kind of lost my way a bit with it but part of my plan is to get back on track with it. So far I am now 2 out of 15, I am aiming for 15 this month but will be happy if I can get more than that.
10 days until DH gets paid, I need to get a Christening present for DH’s niece for next Sunday but debating recycling an old Christening present of DD’s but that might get frowned upon by DH.
The good news is that I am back at work on Monday, the kids go back on Tuesday, DH has the day off to watch the kids.
DH will hopefully have the hallway papered today so the things that are in the lounge can go back out there and I can make a start on getting the lounge tidy. All the decorating has really messed the bottom of the house up so I’ll be glad to get it back on track again.
My task list for next week (yes it’s back):
[STRIKE]Change kids beds[/STRIKE]
[STRIKE]Hoover through[/STRIKE]
4 NSD’s - Might only make 3 this week
[STRIKE]Meal plan for the week[/STRIKE]
[STRIKE]Clean bathroom[/STRIKE]
Washing
[STRIKE]Sort dried washing and put away[/STRIKE]
Half hour ironing every day - Erm, not quite happened this week
[STRIKE]Christening gift, card and wrapping paper[/STRIKE]
[STRIKE]Tidy lounge up - Partly done [/STRIKE]:)
Wean myself of carp daytime t.v.
Sandpaper the bannister. - On hold as DH painting
[STRIKE]Dust and polish[/STRIKE]
Clean the glass
Clean microwave and hob
Me time on Friday - Having Wednesday instead
That should keep me going for a bit
Dinner tonight is beef casserole, gives me a chance to use up some of the veg that is in the fridge and will give the kids something for dinner tomorrow and possible DH will want some for lunch.
I am feeling much more positive now, I think the rest of this year is going to a rough ride but I’m hoping it’s going to be slightly easier.0 -
you sound more like your old self and your DH is right you probably did need a good blow out..it's so easy to lose focus on good things when we are concentrating on debt busting0

Morning,
I can’t believe that it is Wednesday already? Where is the time going? 6 ½ weeks and it will be the Summer holidays.
Judging by how this week is going, I’m not going to be able to make my 4 NSD’s that I wanted however I guess 3 won’t be so bad. I’m declaring NSD #3 for today as I have nothing to buy.
DH has taken his lunch for the past few days, so that’s saved us a bit of money there; it seems to be sinking in with him that money is very tight at the moment and as much as we’d like to give the kids everything we just can’t.
Having today as my ‘Me’ day instead of Friday, tomorrow and Friday are going to be quite hectic with my MiL due here on Saturday for a few days, so queue much running around and tidying up being done. Don’t get me wrong, she’s not a clean freak but I do need to get the house in some sort of order so she doesn’t fall over stuff, she’s in her late 70’s so wouldn’t be good for her to end up in A&E.
Walking to school and back is still in progress and despite the little bits of rain, both kids like it.
I have meal planned for the week, but had to laugh on Monday, I had Peppercorn Chicken down for Monday’s dinner, I’d defrosted the chicken and had peeled the potatoes for the mash only to find that I didn’t have a jar of sauce in the cupboard! I did have two jars of white lasagne sauce instead. Much improvisation needed but needless to say next time I do the meal plan, I must double check that we do have all the ingredients!
Wallpapering is now finished finally after 2 -3 years the hallway/stairs and landing look neat, we’ve only lined the walls as we are going to paint them but it is all coming together now.
Have a good day everyone.0 -
Morning, one more sleep and it’s the weekend
Colour me shocked if you will, I have this week done and worked through my meal plan however last night I couldn’t be bothered to cook so I asked DH if he wanted to order a pizza instead…now normally DH would have agreed but last night said ‘we can’t afford it, let’s have something easy instead’ so we had an easy dinner out of the freezer instead.
Successfully managed my NSD yesterday and am aiming for another one today…was a bit of a close one and would have had to admit to spending on the other board so pleased with myself there for resisting.
Got a busy day today, I need to get as much done as possible in the house to make up for my inactivity yesterday. I’m hoping to cross much more off my list so that I can spend tomorrow doing the dreaded ironing…I’m sure it breeds when I’m not looking.
Off to get motivated, have a good day everyone.
ETA - I forgot to add that I have been thinking about going back to shopping weekly rather than monthly? I don't know if this would save us some money or not?
ETA #2 - I am going to do the above from this month, I am going to limit myslef to £100 per week for food and alcohol and see where we go from there, I am going to try and reduce it every week and I think initially I will need to keep track some how of what is being spent and should hopefully avoid the need to pop in to Tesco's every other day for bits and pieces.0
