Morning.. yaaaaaawn.. hmm it's definite hibernating weather! Oh well, relatively quiet day at work apart from the students' 'award ceremony' later, and then my event in the evening for second job. Mixed feelings about that, sort of looking forward to it, but sort of just want to get home and cosy up!
Christmas pressie Amazon parcels keep arriving at work which is exciting.. I need to smuggle Mr S's things home at some point and hide them somewhere.
Just chatting online to my friend who's in New Zealand at the moment - sounds lovely over thereDebt@16.12.09 £10,362.38, now debt free as of 29.02.2012."I cannot make my days longer so I strive to make them better."0 -
The christmas/ birthday shopping continues and gets reshuffled a bit (if I wasn't writing it down here I'd probably forget what I'd got!)...

Popping in at a weird time today cos I missed you
Your Christmas present list reminds me, my mum told me tonight that my auntie doesn't want to do presents over Christmas - and luckily I hadn't bought those big Thorntons boxes on the 2 for 1 offer.

Morning.. a very sleepy but rather smiley little squirrel here this morning. Both the award things yesterday were really nice but at the evening one there were a few surprises - the extra work I'd been doing was made quite a fuss of (it was being shown on a big screen when I walked in!). I wasn't as embarrassed about that as I would have expected to be
I also had some really fascinating conversations - and for some reason agreed to be filmed talking about the project, again, nothing like as awful as I thought it would be! One of the people I'm mentoring is quite shy and I kind of talked her up into joining in the filming too, and she really enjoyed it, so I was really pleased about that. I generally surprised myself by not being shy and chattering away to people a lot.. oh and the food was great
Had a lovely evening with Mr S when I got in - funny thing though, I popped into the Debenhams sale on the way from work to the event, and it turns out Mr S was in there at the same time - I'd checked out the price of a jumper he'd been looking at so I could let him know, and he'd bought the jumper :rotfl: Weird that we didn't see each other, although sort of good as it turns out we'd both been doing a bit of looking for Christmas pressies for each other too
This morning I got my first philosophy assignment back marked and got really good feedback
So, all good, I could just do with a little bit more sleep....Debt@16.12.09 £10,362.38, now debt free as of 29.02.2012."I cannot make my days longer so I strive to make them better."0 -

Morning.. soo glad it's Friday. Nice sunny day out there, and going out for dinner tonight (well, if we don't both collapse on the sofa when we get in).
Time for an update on the 50 day challenge:
1. Finish mentoring course and arrange next steps
On schedule with everything and getting good feedback on my assignments. Waiting to hear what might happen with the teaching work.
2. Finish philosophy course and arrange next steps
Less than two weeks to go with this - have finished main essay apart from a few final tweaks. Have enrolled on OU course for next year. Going to get preliminary reading from Amazon/ library and read over next couple of months.
3. Post on blog at least 2 times a week and build up a following
Back on track with this. I've started another little blog about clothes and books and stuff, but the philosophy/ gardening one is still my main focus. I don't have a huge following but I am finding it useful 'having' to write frequently.
4. Get debt down to £7k
On track for this.
5. Lose 10lb
Lost 3lb.
6. Do something to work on my lack of confidence
The course I attended really helped, and see above post on the other night (the other thing I was pleased with myself about that night was that I didn't touch the wine! So no dutch courage...). Still a long way to go, but I do feel.. different.

I think this stuff is catching as well.. Mr S has been offered some really interesting work (still in his current job but getting involved in a different area). If it comes off I think it'll be really good for him - he's still bored and feeling unvalued at work a lot of the time.
Off to small farmers market this weekend, then the usual big one is next weekend - will be trying to stock up on things we can put in the freezer for Christmas (there is another market just before Christmas but don't want to leave it till then in case of bad weather).
Right, time for a cup of tea and some work!Debt@16.12.09 £10,362.38, now debt free as of 29.02.2012."I cannot make my days longer so I strive to make them better."0 -
Sounds like the 50 day challenge is going well for you Squizz - I think I'm abandoning mine, letting life tell me what my priorities are - get the house ready for Christmas, get the accounts done, get well - *not* in that order!
PS - how are you going to work on blog followings?2023: the year I get to buy a car0
