I LOVE Zumba - it's really fun and I don't feel sore afterwards, just energised. Need to start Pilates soon too.No longer using this account for new posts from 20130

Morning - beautiful bright crisp day here!
Been thinking some more about the dance things - I think I want to be a bit fitter before I go to a 'proper' dance class - I don't mind being a bit stiff and out of practice but at the moment I'd be embarrassed by my general lack of stamina. So I think I'm going to try doing some pilates and New York Ballet Workout (got the DVDs) at home, and find a more energetic fitness/ dance class for a bit till I get some fitness up. I think...
Inspired by the time study I did at work last week, and my musings on how much time I actually have to do the things I want, I kept a little note of what I did yesterday. Thinking that if I write it down it will make me think about making the most of the time.. so here it is:
8-9 Get ready, breakfast, walk to work, listen to radio
12.30-1.30 Lunch, walk, read chapter of OU book
5-5.30 Walk home, listen to radio
5.30-6.30 Cuddle Mr S and cat, catch up on our day (the cat said she had a good one), have cup of tea, potter round garden, do sudoku
6.30-7 OU reading while Mr S making tea
7-7.30 Eat food
7.30-8 OU reading
8-8.30 Watching University Challenge
8.30-9 Half watch Raymond Blanc while attempting some pilates, being given funny
looks by Mr S and cat
9-11 Reading novel, shower, bit more reading.. and bed!
I particularly need to think of some things for lunchtimes (that don't involve shopping). I only get paid for 7 hours so I'm conscious of not letting work slip into that hour - it's too easy to just get started again early if I'm sitting at my desk not doing much. So been having a look at things I can do within walking distance of work - for this week I've got a 'relaxation session' arranged by work on Thursday, there's also a photography exhibition on in the library. Most Thursdays there's a free lunchtime too, so will try to get to some of them. Once the swimming pool at work opens again (end of March) I'll go for the odd swim.. but hmmm what else?Debt@16.12.09 £10,362.38, now debt free as of 29.02.2012."I cannot make my days longer so I strive to make them better."0 -
Ooh, I like the sound of that. I too am conscious of needing to make the most of my time - and really, is mah jong solitaire, in whatever formation, doing it? I think not! I might have to do a time diary of when I'm not working, thats a realy good idea.2023: the year I get to buy a car0

Mah Jong or sudoku or whatever is good for a break and a different sort of brain 'exercise' I think... it's just when it ends up being hours on end that I feel I've wasted time. I've decided I'm only watching TV programmes that I actually want to watch - rather than finding something that's just OK to pass the time. And if I can do some exercise/ stretches at the same time, even better.Debt@16.12.09 £10,362.38, now debt free as of 29.02.2012."I cannot make my days longer so I strive to make them better."0

Totally agree. I've also noticed that I play little computer games when I'm in the middle of writing an email or a letter and I need to wait to find a better phrasing for something - I should just go away and do something else, even for 5 minutes, would keep me a little bit active too.2023: the year I get to buy a car0

Treats budget - spend £42 - just bought a book on Pilates with particular focus on dodgy backs. I can remember bits from classes but want to make sure I'm doing the right things. £5 as a one off is definitely cheaper than £5 a week for a class!Debt@16.12.09 £10,362.38, now debt free as of 29.02.2012."I cannot make my days longer so I strive to make them better."0

Yawn.. bit sleepy this morning. I blame staying up to watch the last Shameless and having a small glass of wine!
Started the day with a really pointless meeting and now can't get going with stuff. Got counselling this afternoon and assorted bits and pieces to do.
Just got a voucher on Groupon for £9 which is worth £20 on Asos.. worth getting as I quite regularly see things I like on there.. suppose I should add that to the treats budget!
Last night's spare time was not quite so productive.. but it did involve pancakes! And I did manage to listen to the guided meditation at lunchtime, which I think helped me to be calm for the afternoon. Sitting in a slightly chilly park is not the best situation for that though I think...
8-9 Get ready, breakfast, read magazine, walk to work, listen to radio
1-2 Lunch, walk, guided meditation
5-6 Walk home, listen to radio, food shopping
5.30-6 Cup of tea, usual catch up, reading local newsletter
6.30-7 Making quiche for lunches, cooking tea
7-7.30 Eating tea
7.30-8 Philosophy-related reading
8-8.30 Making and eating pancakes
8.30-9 Philosophy-related reading
9-10 Heston and sudoko and trying to fix stupid internet connection
10-11 ShamelessDebt@16.12.09 £10,362.38, now debt free as of 29.02.2012."I cannot make my days longer so I strive to make them better."0 -
That evening looks pretty productive to me - making quiche for lunch, an hour of reading, and working on the connection - I'd be ecstatic with that!2023: the year I get to buy a car0

I didn't get very far with the internet connection, we came to the conclusion there was just a dodgy signal last night!
I think I still have this image in my head of "other people's exciting lives" - which probably isn't actually true of that many people. Having said that we were talking last night about going out during the week more regularly.. need to have a look round for vouchersDebt@16.12.09 £10,362.38, now debt free as of 29.02.2012."I cannot make my days longer so I strive to make them better."0 -
