Glad you found the email i sent :) You're right, choice is the important thing about Christmas, and the time of year isn't the best for the way we celebrate it now. Ah well, if it wasn't Christmas, it would be something else - the solstice or whatever :)

Let me know when you come down to do walking and stuff! We could meet - I love that beach, I seriously do :)

Oh yes it would be lovely to meet up :)

Right I have had a few cups of tea, sorted out the emails into 'reply', 'file' and 'bin' and thought about what I want to do this month.

    Money - pay off £575.

Education - make a start on OU course. First assignment due at the end of Feb but I'd like to have it done by mid Feb. Need to check through and submit portfolio for mentoring course.

Work - well future work - chase up teaching opportunity via second job, find money for and enrol on online teaching course (starts Feb).

Hobbies - planning to read at least one non-study related book a month, this month's is A Place In My Country: In Search Of A Rural Dream by Ian Walthew. Going to have a think about resurrecting some of my music stuff - playing, maybe learning a new instrument.

Garden - planning the veg patch for this year and putting our names down for allotments.

Health & fitness - start running again, find a dentist and a GP by the end of the month.

Also want to have a look for some language courses and possibly driving lessons (something I have a real mental block and fear of!).. and have a think about holidays for this year.

I think I might be in serious need of a calendar for this year!

Can't remember if I mentioned this before (and too lazy to read back) but Mr S has had some good news re work (you know how he's always bored!) - he's been asked to write and teach part of a new degree course which his department is running. He seems really pleased so hoping that all goes ahead as planned.

Ooh I almost forgot, as of today my salary has gone up :j I now earn over £20k (just over but it's a raise of £600-ish a year) for the first time in my life - woohoo!

Congrats on the payrise, they're few and far between nowadays, so you did well to get one.

Fantastic, Squizz - you're in decent money there, well done!

And those plans - you're definitely going to need a calendar or a planner or a diary or *something* :) Go Squizz!

Morning.. yick it's cold and rainy today. This time last year it was really heavy snow here - it was the first day back at work and we got sent home within half an hour! No such luck today, but I've got plenty to keep me busy anyway.

Made a start on OU course properly last night, have read the first week's section and got a list of books to get out of the library (which of course I have forgotten to bring, oops). Will see if I can find them on the course website, otherwise my lunchtime mission will be for a diary/ calendar instead... or maybe I should just use an electronic one so I can access it from anywhere? Hmm.

It's my birthday today, and I got up to some lovely presents from Mr S - some notebooks for my course, lots of lovely L'Occitane smellies, and the River Cottage Everyday cookbook :) Having a meal at home tonight (too tired to go out) and hopefully going out at the weekend if I can decide where to go!
