  • Morning.. oowwww really sore throat :( Only got two days left at work but currently feeling like I might not make it through today.

Drinks out on Friday were alright, felt a bit weird because everyone else knows each other so well. Saturday, got all ready to jumpstart the car (bought one of those things you charge up in the house) and head off to the farmers market but... nope, car not having it. So ended up going to Aldi and Wilkinsons instead - not quite the same, but got lots of nice food and Christmas decorations. Spent the afternoon putting up the tree and watching The Nativity Story (film from 2006) which made me cry! Mr S said it was the first time he'd had his own Christmas tree, and the first Christmas he's spent at home rather than with extended family (not counting last year of course when we were abroad).. we've decided we must be very grown up now :rotfl:

Yesterday was pretty much a Sunday papers and sofa day, I had a sleep in the afternoon and woke up feeling rubbish :( So attempting to get through another couple of days at work, finish Christmas/ birthday shopping, go out for dinner for Mr S's birthday on Wednesday, and then collapse for a couple of days...

Just copying my 50 day challenges from MG - not a bad end to the year:

    1. Finish mentoring course and arrange next steps
Finished all my assignments, had feedback, finishing portfolio today. Have decided on next course to do.

    2. Finish philosophy course and arrange next steps
Finished, and got really good feedback on my assignments 1.gif Enrolled on OU course and started background reading. Worked out credit transfer arrangements for OU degree.

    3. Post on blog at least 2 times a week and build up a following
Think I have posted approx twice a week, and it's going alright, not got a huge following but I've had a few 'conversations' on the blog and on Twitter. Enjoying the regular writing.

    4. Get debt down to £7k
Doing my sums a little early here as payday isn't till Thursday but total debt then will be... £6862.38 1.gif

    5. Lose 10lb
Lost a bit, gained a bit.. realised I'm not good at dieting and think I need to concentrate on exercise instead.

    6. Do something to work on my lack of confidence
Been on a few courses, faced a few demons (nasty phone calls maybe). Think I am making progress here 1.gif

All in all, pretty pleased with that and ready to set some tougher challenges in the new year.

Thats brilliant - well done on all those achievements! Tho sorry you feel so ill :(

This dieting thing .... have you done a food diary? Is it portion control, or late at nightness? Tho certainly, exercise is good! I abandoned the 50 day challenge ages ago, sadly - just got to focus on what's in front of me, i.e. getting the house in order and getting/staying well.

Thanks :) I think you've focussed on the most important things - challenges (and chutney) can come when you're ready ;)

The food thing - portions are quite a big part of it. I find if I deny myself any types of food I get obsessive about them, so cutting down just the amount is probably the way to go. I don't generally eat after my evening meal :A Once Christmas is over and I feel better I'll be getting back to running I think.

I wish I was a cuttingdown sort of person with sweet things and chocolate - I'm kind of addictive about them, so the best thing is not to have them at all - I'm relaxing that over Christmas, otherwise it'll just be rubbish at meals or when everyone is having nibbles, but I'm going for it properly again come the new year.

Sorry you are feeling yucky Squizz and good luck with the challenges. xx

  • Thanks Elli :)

While I'm doing summing up thingies.. I've just worked out that I've paid off £3500 this year (well added another £20 to December's payments to round it up) :j

To be debt free by the end of 2011 I need to pay about £570 a month - that's quite a lot, but that will be one of the challenges!

    Knock knock

    Hello Squizz,

I was drawn here by following Karmacat - she of exceedingly good taste where diaries are concerned :D

Love the pretty dress you posted a couple of days ago - glad to hear there was vestage going on underneath thought - last summers tops are this winters vests in my house ;).

I totally get where you're coming from on the dieting; anything that even slightly resembles deprivation in any form has me scrabbling to do the complete opposite ( clothes, food & money to name but a few :rotfl:).

I've actually found some success with regular exercise though; I've lost 4lbs in the last 3 weeks & although it's not a lot, I havent deprived myself of any food but I do seem to be eating slightly less. I think regular exercise keeps my energy levels up which means I'm not scoffing to restore my energy.

Hope that helps in some small way & apologies for barging in uninvited :o

    xx
