Love the photos, especially the ones of your boots! It was a while before I could understand which way up it was
I'mterrible about going into TK Maxx - I *know they're real bargains, and almost every woman I know uses them, but I hate going through the rails - and I'm really rubbish at spotting what will look good on me. Sigh ... oh well, I might be about to start learning, since my clothes decluttering is gradually leaving more and more space in my wardrobe :j2023: the year I get to buy a car0 -
Morning. Hehe the boots one is a bit of a jumble isn't it? TK Maxx can take a bit of rummaging, but when you have the time/ patience (I don't always) there are some great bargains in there. I've had some fantastic shoes from there but the shoe section is particularly hit or miss!
Off to the communication course (that was meant to happen a couple of weeks ago) this morning - hope it's as useful as other ones lately have been.Debt@16.12.09 £10,362.38, now debt free as of 29.02.2012."I cannot make my days longer so I strive to make them better."0 -
RS - hope the course is good.
KC - I don't like shopping. One benefit of TKMaxx is that it's end of lines, and also quite often there are some european labels and US ones that you don't see on the high street, so it can make it so that you can spot some things a little different.
The main trick is to go midweek at a quiet time, so that there's no queue for changing rooms etc..
The other trick I've learned is that with it being so many end of lines from different labels, the sizing is all over the place, so worth looking at least a size up and down from your normal size.
Over the years I've found handbags, shoes, purses, jeans, trousers, coats, undies and lots of other bits and pieces. Mainly labels and quality that I couldn't afford at full price. Their kitchenware and household goods sections are normally good too.
The savings do make it worth the bother of going through the racks.
OK - advert for TKMaxx over0 -
Those are good tips, thanks SE - between you and Lula, I'll be sorted, as long as I actually *take* the advice
I might look for another branch of TK Maxx too - the one I've tried is in a holiday town, and doesn't really have any quiet days.

Se, you are clearly a TK Maxx expert shopper
The course was interesting - some helpful things but as seems to be becoming usual with these things, it's more helpful from the point of view of talking to other people and realising that I can actually put my views across/ talk in a room full of people. A morning is really not enough time to address all these issues but I did get some good pointers.Debt@16.12.09 £10,362.38, now debt free as of 29.02.2012."I cannot make my days longer so I strive to make them better."0 -
Thats networking, you know! You're a genuine networker! I'm very impressed.2023: the year I get to buy a car0

Am I?
Actually the thing I was most pleased about was being able to share some information that I'd got from the IT training/ mentoring thing - everyone on the course (including the woman leading it) was puzzling over email 'etiquette' and I was able to pass on some useful sites on the topic. It's a bit of a pet niggle of mine that people aren't taught how to use email properly for work - they either write them as if they're letters, or they're far too informal - smiley faces and kisses from someone you've never met is not professional!
Mini rant overToday I seem to be spending a fortune on donations for Christmas and birthday things for people at work! Still I get paid a week today and have got £370 left in the bank so not too bad. Must attempt to go on the Christmas stocking hunt at lunchtime, although the weather is nasty and wet at the moment and meant to get a bit wintery later, ugh.
Got my line manager 'work shadowing' me this afternoon so she can learn what I actually do - that should be interesting!Debt@16.12.09 £10,362.38, now debt free as of 29.02.2012."I cannot make my days longer so I strive to make them better."0 -
Work shadowing went well actually - came up with loads of ideas for things we can do to make it all a bit more streamlined, and also good news in that we are getting a new role in the team - someone is leaving so sort of their replacement but at a lower grade and more of an admin role, and I will be able to delegate some stuff to them at busy times
Forgot to mention earlier, my OU books arrived yesterday - very exciting!
I also did a 'fantasy CV' earlier, what I hope it will look like qualification-wise in a few years time.. quite motivating I think.
It's been snowing here on and off since mid-morning - not lying but still going to be a soggy walk home...Debt@16.12.09 £10,362.38, now debt free as of 29.02.2012."I cannot make my days longer so I strive to make them better."0 -
The email issue sounds interesting - as i do more and more active things online, I'm starting to wonder that myself .....
I'm dreading the arrival of all this cold tho - I think I'm going to be snuggled up tight in bed *very* early in the evening, wimp that I am. And wow to the work shadowing, *and* the fantasy CV - I love that concept.
Hope the walk home isn't *too* soggy.2023: the year I get to buy a car0 -
