  • Hubby and I had HUGE fun today spending our 14 vouchers and text codes in the Milton Keynes store.
Saved a whopping £70.00 and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. Arms were weighed down by the number of carrier bags we had.
Wish this kind of thing would happen more often. Best form of legalised theft...ever !!:j

  • Having read many replies complaining that the texts were not accepted by some SAs, I just want to share a method with you that I have tried. I've received 2 codes using 2 phones, but didn't want to use them as text codes, as I wasn't sure whether the SAs have seen this before and might insist upon a printed copy. OK this method will only work if

    a. you have received an email voucher before (and you still have the email), because you'll need a template for the paper voucher.
    b. you've got photoshop (or other photo editing software) installed and you're good at using the software

    How to do this:

    1. go to your email voucher, and do a screen shot using the "Prt Scrn Sys Rq" button on the keyboard (usually next to F12), make sure that while you're doing the screen shot, the Debenham voucher box is completely in view on the screen (you don't want to miss out any bits of the voucher)

    2. open photoshop, and create a new file with white background, then paste (Ctrl+V) the screen shot onto that file.

    3. open a new word document (or other word processor), type in the code you received from your mobile, using Arial font. Then same as 1, do a screen shot of the number.

    4. same as 2, create another new file in photoshop, paste again, then crop the image so you only got the text voucher code bit left, and don't leave too much blank space around the code, because you don't want it to cover other information in the paper voucher other than the original email code itself.

    5. move the image generated from 4 above (using Move Tool in Photoshop), and scale it so that it just covers the original email code in image generated in 2 (called a new layer in photoshop?).

    6. crop the image so that you only get the voucher in the image (rather than all the information on your computer screen, I actually got rid of the email address and terms and conditions bits from my email voucher as well, just leaving the voucher itself), save the file.

    7. print it out and use it just as you would use a paper voucher, adjust your print setting to make sure the "new code" on the printed voucher is clearly visible, i.e. not too small (I used full frame A4 printing).

The above sounds very complicated, but if you're good at image editing, it'll take you less than 5 minutes (maybe took me 2 minutes). Effectively, you're converting a mobile text code into a paper code, that's all. Because once you're in the store, they'll just type in the code into the computer, no matter if it's a paper voucher or text code, they use the same method to process the code.

I have used this method without any problems, because the code you received from text would be unique, so no one should have received the same code by email already.

Just thinking it may be helpful for someone not being able to use the text code because the store insisted upon a printed copy. Good luck!

I went to Debenhams today with my parents. I printed one email voucher for each of us and each of us had the text codes on our phones. Two of the printed vouchers scanned OK, but the third one wouldn't go through and the SA said the tills only declined USED vouchers when people were trying to defraud the shop! The voucher had definitely NOT been used before and I only printed one of each code so I was pretty upset to be accused of trying to defraud the store! The text codes went through without a hitch. I wonder if it's worth complaining as the voucher was legitimate and the staff were very rude to me and my Mum. I wouldn't have complained about the voucher being declined, but I'm not happy to have almost been accused of stealing!

I had a friend who had 1 refused also, used 2 ok, they said it was used and she knows it definitely was not as it was the first time she had been in Debenhams.

I had the same problem with a text code yesterday and equally the woman was very rude and started saying that they weren't supposed to be sending out codes any more and that it had all stopped - luckily i had a paper code which I gave her and that worked. However I was very suss about the woman as she was funny with us as soon as I said I had a text code to use. So i went downstairs to a different till with different things to buy and what do you know IT WORKED! Not sure if the woman keyed it in wrong or had a faulty till ( i had heard them complaining something hadn't been working) So I would try at a different till first - some people just don't like you getting offers/coupons.
I need to start saving so I plan to save £2 a week to start with:beer:

    I've been Money Tipped!
It's a shame there have been one or two problems. I've (we've) been pretty lucky and only had one very small issue plus one other sour face. A couple of voucher codes took several attempts to go through, but probably down to lack of staff training - maybe they weren't expecting this to be as big as it was. They should certainly be well informed if we are lucky enough for a repeat (pretty please).
One the whole I have experienced a very good service from mainly helpful staff.

Sadly the end is nigh, but a fantastic promotion.

The reason why some of the voucher codes and text codes don't work is some people have been 'generating' their own codes...

I'm not a techie but I did read that people were attempting to do this - So it means the person with the GENUINE code doesn't get to use it as it has been nabbed already!

    NOT NICE!!

I would still complain about the SA attitude...

I think its not fair that people who go along with their ONE code or voucher get it refused when LOADS of others have been used by individuals , and the whole promotion has been abused!!
