Oh right... sorry. yes that's correct - you will owe £12,000 for two years loans (if you spend it though! some people try and save most of it... that's what I'll try... whether that actually happens we'll have to see how things go , lol
)
and to confirm that yes you do have to reapply each year!
I'm assuming it's the same date too.. ie: March
Ok. Thank you! :T0 -
Hi all
I am 28 and am going to uni this year to do my BA Hons in Youth and Community Studies, i work for a local authority who are paying my fee's. It will be a full time course over three years but it is only one day a week, i have a job which will count towards my fieldwork so will still be earning approx £17500 per year. My question is would i be entitled to any student loans, grants etc?
Many thanks

I too seek advice on similar question. I have paid my daughters fees for the last three years, she is now going on to her Masters. I was originally advised by my ex.wife's new husband that we could not claim for a grant, I am now having read your articles not so sure. Does combined earnings include all sources direct or indirect? i.e. my earnings plus her step-father and if yes what is the maximum before we are outside the area of claiming help through a govnt. grant in England. Thanks.0

Hey all,
I will be starting my nursing course in a week or so, and will be getting a full bursary, but was wondering if there is any other financial help I can apply for? I am a mature student if that makes any difference
TIA

Hi im doing a nursing diploma course and recieve a bursary, i have been told i cant get a student loan though, is there any other loan i can get similar to the government one or does anyone know how i could get any other funds??0

My son started uni in Sept 07 and our combined family income was more than £39000 so we could not get a maintenance grant. Our circumstances are similar this year but the threshold for the maintenance grant has gone up to £60000 for students starting uni this year. Our income is significantly less than £60000 but I understand that we can't apply for a maintenance grant as our son started his degree course last year. We read the student finance info carefully and it implies that grant for the new threshold are only for students starting degree courses in 08. Is this correct?0

Unfortunately the answer is no. Diploma students pay no fees and receive a bursary, putting them in a far better situation than most students. Many people do some part time work alongside their studies, hospital "bank" work and care homes being particularly appropriate.0 -

Yes. I know. It sucks.0 -
I'm totally lost at the minute, I lost my part time job a few months ago thanks to the company I work for cutting back on spending, and it turned out I wasn't needed anymore! I have tried to get through a year without a part time job before and it was actually impossible.
My loan is literally just for my rent and bills and my family are not in the financial situation to be supporting me either, contrary to the governments decision not to give me any help this year! and i'm in a situation where I may possibly be taken to court for the final bills in our last house! I've spoken to the Gas/Electric board and have organized a payment plan, but getting the money of my former flat-mates is most likely going to prove very difficult! There were 2 names on the bills originally, but for some reason the providers have now decided its all down to me to pay them, and are sending me all the bills/threatening letters.
I desperately need to find a job. I owe my boyfriend 150 quid as he's kindly been paying for food for me to live on. I was just wondering is going round the shops in town with CV's the best way to go about this? I spoke to my mam and she said that quite often CV's just get put away in a drawer and forgotten about, but these jobs aren't being advertised online and they don't have application forms so I don't see any other way of getting through to them!!
