Was it 1990 or so when prices dropped by 50%?

According to Nationwide Quarterly "UK" Index, 1973 on, the biggest annual drop in house prices was 16.5% (Q1 2008 to Q1 2009).

    Prior to that, the biggest was 10.7% (Q4 1989 to Q4 1990). Although Yorks/Humberside was hit 20.3%

Sellers wising up? Or simply asking too much to begin with?

Or maybe another VI trying to drum up business :)

Clue may have been in the first sentence which said the market was stagnating. Do you ever read what you post Graham?

House prices see fastest rise in 18 months

House prices rose at their fastest rate for 18 months in October after a steep drop during the previous month, figures showed today.

Martin Ellis, Halifax housing economist, said: "We do not believe that prices are set to fall sharply over a sustained period. Interest rates are likely to remain very low for an extended period, which will continue to support the improved mortgage affordability position for homeowners."

The start of the next leg down for sure...:rotfl:

Apparently, the rise wouldn't be celebrated in such style?
