Nick Clegg should be ashamed of himself! Why is it that scotland/wales and most other EU countries have no university fees for students. Because students are where our futures lie. Would you want to be saddled for years and years having to pay these fees back and trying to pay for somewhere to live and eat and heat your home etc.
Lets face it £21000 a year less tax/NI doesnt end up with much to spare every month and then off comes your fees at an interest of 3% and whos to say governments wont increase this interest as time goes on. They will be paying for years. Its a heavy chain around their necks.
And the students from lower income families will still have to pay this. There may be the odd scholarship or two but they are far and few between.
Its a very sad day for higher education in this country seems like we are been dragged into the USA system whether we want it or not. Will it be our health service next:eek:
Look after the pennys and the pounds will look after themselves:money:

The threshold will be £21k (increasing every year with inflation) which means you won't be paying anything until you earn more.

No, because it is political suicide for anyone to suggest the creation of fees. I would be all for fees in Scotland (although I would be against a leap from zero to £9,000 in the first instance) because the situation is unsustainable. I also believe that Scotland would really need to alter its education system to make it so that more than a handful of Scots at least have the option of studying outside Scotland.

Have they said its going to increase with inflation under the new scheme? I know the current £15,000 doesn't it has remained static.

Yes. Can't find the link to it but it was announced on 8th November. BBC News had a dedicated article ... if you can find it!
