E ON FIXONLINE V3 Coming to an end? Please Help
Comments
-
I too am coming to end of fixonline v3 .... I asked a couple of months back what happened when it ended and was told that Eon would write to me a month before to tell me what tariff they intended to move me onto and what my options were ... however, 3 weeks from the end date I've still heard nothing.
From checks I've done I think I'll be staying with EOn ... currently debating between SaveOnline and the tariff thats fixed to May 2012.
How/when do I inform EOn which tariff I want to switch to. There's a "switch tariffs" option on the webpage but I'd assumed thats for an immediate switch only.
Any answers?0 -
My E.on fixonline v3 comes to an end on 1st December as well - sad to leave as the online account information is good - but moneysaving comes first..
Question is - can I start the process now without incurring the penalty, given that it takes several weeks to make the switch - or do I have to wait till 1st December before hitting the button?
Incidentally EDF came out cheapest in my case with a projected saving of £170 on an £1800 spend..
Hi cleudo
As you say, switching supplier takes several weeks. Consequently, starting the switch now should mean the transfer will complete after the end date of Fixonline 3 on 1 December 2010.
In this case, you will not only avoid the cancellation fee but will receive all the discount applicable to Fixonline 3 even if part of this falls within the final bill.
Hope this clarifies the situation cleudo. Give me a shout if you need any more info as will be happy to help.

Hi deshepherd
We are currently writing to all customers on Fixonline 3 advising of the imminent end of the tariff. You should be receiving your letter any time now.
As you say, a product switch can be done online which will have immediate effect.
You can wait until Fixonline 3 ends and then change through the website on the actual day. However, the tariffs you are looking at now may not be available on 1 December 2010.
Alternatively, you can call us and check which option is best for you. We will be able to advise whether you will be better switching tariff now or staying as you are and moving after Fixonline 3 ends.
We can also tell you your usage so you can pop these figures on to a comparison site to see all your options, both with us and other suppliers.
Hope this is useful deshepherd. Give me a shout if you need any more info as will be happy to help.

my fixonline v3 is also coming to an end however my letter from Eon says that I will be switched to EnergyOnline, not SaveOnline that everyone else is mentioning.
I was wondering if this is because I am in the Glasgow area
Also I have checked some comparison sites, some say that I should go to edf for a £168/year saving, some say that I am better to stick with EnergyOnline with Eon, so I am totally confused
Any help greatfully received0 -

Inevitably after writing this I got home and found a letter from EOn saying that they proposed moving me to the standard online tariff.
While I can wait to Dec 1 and switch then I'm slightly wary that with price rises around at the moment the capped rate may get "updated" .... if I switch now to another Eon tariff how does that affect me in terms of penalties and any loss of discount?0 -

Hi dissident
Nothing to do with being in Glasgow.EnergyOnline is our standard tariff for customers managing their accounts online.
When a tariff like Fixonline 3 ends, EnergyOnline is the product our online customers are automatically defaulted to unless they tell us otherwise.
Although EnergyOnline has a lower level of discount than some other tariffs, there are no tie-ins or restrictions. This leaves you free to change tariff/supplier at any time.
Saveonline 4 is available but this has certain restrictions which may not be acceptable to you.
However, you're doing exactly the right thing in checking out the comparison sites to find the best deal for you from all the suppliers.
Hope this makes this a little clearer dissident. Give me a shout if you need any more details as will be happy to help.

Hi deshepherd
Once you change tariff, the old product stops on the day of the switch and the new one kicks in immediately.
Therefore, if you switch to another E.ON tariff today, the discount for Fixonline 3 will be applied up to today only. Going forward, the discount relevant to the new tariff will be applied to future usage.
Just a heads up; I always recommend customers give us meter readings on the day they do the switch. This ensures the usage/discount is calculated accurately rather than relying on estimates.
There are no restrictions for changing tariff, like cancellation fees, on our current capped product (Price Protection May 2012).
However, the saveonline 4 product you asked about earlier may have cancellation charges imposed if you break the terms of the contract before the end date. It depends on the circumstances at the time.
Hope this helps deshepherd. Give me a shout if you need any more info as will be happy to help.

What everyone seems to have missed is page 2 of the letter informs you that if you want to discuss pricing, Eon have a number of tariffs that they'd be happy to put you on, you do not have to accept the mandatory move to Energy Online from 2nd December.0

I also had the letter and did a bit of shopping around. For me in London with combined bill of around £825/yr with Eon I will save about £100 for the year by changing to EDF Online Saver 7 and going through Top Cash Back. The EDF deal ends on 30 Nov but they told me that as long as I start the process just before this date, the 'cooling off' period means that they won't contact Eon to arrange the change until after 1 Dec. so no exit penalties.
Hope this is of assistance to someone!0 -

A question for Malc from E.On....
I am currently on the E.On Fixonline V3 tariff which expires on 1 December 2010. After using price comparison sites, I expect to be moving to another supplier and would like to do this as soon as possible to avoid any tariff price rises in the meantime.
In your response to cleudo, you said that the customer should start thher switching process now because "it takes several weeks" and that this should mean that the customer doesn't lose the discount from E.On on the final Fixonline V3 bill (presumably up to 1 December 2010).
Is there any risk of a transfer to another supplier happening more quickly than that if the process is started, say, on 16 November (ie two weeks before 1 December) - like I say, I want to move supplier, but I don't want to lose my final bill discount from E.On.
(By the way Malc, thanks for all your helpful contibutions - it's good to see a company like E.On being so open and constructive on here)0
