E ON FIXONLINE V3 Coming to an end? Please Help

Hi

Have recieved a letter from EON today saying that my fixonline v3 is coming to an end on December 1st.

At present on the Fixonline V3 my deal is this;

Electricity
Normal units up to 900 kWhs per year
24.3915 pence

Normal units
9.5445 pence per kWh

Gas
Normal units up to 2680 kWhs per year
6.5247 pence

Normal units
3.40725 pence per kWh

With Discounts of;

Gas Discounts
  • 6.00 % Direct Debit Discount
  • 2.00 % Dual Fuel Direct Debit Discount
  • 14.20 % Online Discount
Electricity Discounts
  • 6.00 % Direct Debit Discount
  • 2.00 % Dual Fuel Direct Debit Discount
  • 14.20 % Online Discount
So a total discount of 22.2%

I have had a look on their website and there seems to be no equilavent to this deal. The best I can see is;

E.ON SaveOnline 4

Electricity

Normal units up to 900 kWhs per year
20.6535 pence

Normal units
8.946 pence per kWh

Gas
Normal units up to 2680 kWhs per year
5.2227 pence

Normal units
2.90955 pence per kWh

This includes discounts of;

Gas Discounts
  • 6.00 % Direct Debit Discount
  • 2.00 % Dual Fuel Direct Debit Discount
Electricity Discounts
  • 6.00 % Direct Debit Discount
  • 2.00 % Dual Fuel Direct Debit Discount
and 6% cheaper than our standard prices - which I assume is the prices quoted above.

I can see that with the EON Saveonline 4 my actual prices for Gas and Electricity are cheaper than before but my overall discount is not. Would I be right in saying that that with EON Saveonline 4 I am getting a total discount of 14% wheras on the previous Fixonline deal I was getting 22.2%. Im not too hot on maths but I appear to be getting shafted somewhat

Eon dont seem to be offering any better alternatives, what should I do? Are there better deals out there? Bit at a loss on what to do so any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Pablo

  • I mean that E.ON SaveOnline 4 is not bad, not sure if you get the Tesco points though? Are prises going to rise that much in the next year?
  • Best thing to do, would be to get your annual usage in kilowatt hours (NOT £££) and use a price comparison site. That will bring up all tariffs with all suppliers and you can see where in the list Save Online 4 falls. Atleast this way you know whether it is better in comparison to other providers.

    Hi Pablo

    We've changed the format of our online tariffs recently.

    Previously, we showed the discount for managing your account online as a separate percentage figure. This amount is then deducted from your total charges (before VAT) at the end of the bill.

    Now, we include the online management discount in the unit prices. The amount standard prices are reduced also differs between the individual tiers and by region.

    For instance, in the prices you have quoted for Saveonline 4, our standard rates for your region have been lowered by approx the following amounts.

    Electricity
    Normal units up to 900 kWh per year
    15.32%

    Normal units
    6.27%

    Gas
    Normal units up to 2680 kWh per year
    19.95%

    Normal units
    14.60%

    On top of this, you will receive the discount for paying by Direct Debit.

    Unlike Fixonline 3, Saveonline 4 unit prices are not fixed. If our standard prices change, then so will Saveonline 4. However, they are guaranteed to be at least 6 per cent lower than standard unit prices up to 15 January 2012 when the tariff ends.

    As Airmike says, Tesco Clubcard points are not available with Saveonline 4.

    I would do as echoecho advises and pop your usage on to one of the comparison sites so you can see all the options, both with us and other suppliers.

    Hope this answers your questions Pablo. Give me a shout if you need any more info as will be happy to help.

    Hi Pablo

    The prices you quoted and the info I provided are based on electricity distribution area 12.

    This is in the London region and the Bromley BR1 Post Code falls within this area.

    Hope this is ok. Again, let me know if I can help further as will be happy to do so.

  • Hi! Can the e.on chap please explain to me about the Price Protection May 2012 tariff i.e. is it a fixed price to May 2012 is that just semantics? Would this be a better deal than the SaveOnline4? Ta, ducks. x

    PP May 2012 is a capped dael approx 6% higher than eon standard rate, but if there is an increase it is the eon standard tariff (and other variable unit rate tariffs) where unit rates increase, capped deals unit rates will not go higther than what you are put on as of joining that tariff, and you get the benefit of decreases as and when they occur, however Save Online 4, altho a variable rate, is so much cheaper than pp may 2012 financially better off going on that tariff even if prices increased.

    I would love to change tarriffs online, if only the eonenergy WWW site would work quicker than a slow thing on a very slow day!
