The receipt just says "will get back to you ref blue smoke"
Unfortunately when the receptionist read out the theoretical diagnosis on the phone and I didn't quite catch it all. the words valve and leak were used I think.....
Anyway I got given the car back today so they seem fine about me continuing to drive it. I'm just in limbo now.
Amen.
Possibly blown stem seals caused by over filling.0 -
What did you have running Rover V8 engines? You must've been gutted to have them replaced by clattery 4 cylinder vans...
We used to run LDV Convoy Ambulances, 3.5 V8 with 4 speed autobox, they even had carbs when we bought the last lot in 2001.
They are still inuse in London, though they are currently being withdrawn as the new, crap, 516CDi Sprinters are being delivered, end of an era.0 -
One of the early posters who might have jokingly suggested the cliff/handbrake idea was the best option from a bad lot imo!
Hope it turns out ok for you.0 -
They want the car back for a week. Suspected "Valve seal oil leak" however apparently "Honda" want to run lots of tests on it. I think if there is light at the end of the tunnel it's probably an oncoming train.0

Does the honda ecu lose all the fault codes if you disconnect the battery for a few hours like the vauxhalls do?0

These must have been new old stock as 3.5 V8's with carbs were only produced up to 1976, then they switched to fuel injected units.
I bought a Convoy with factory-fit V8 and my mechanic ran the engine number through a database. It was made in 1975, the van was made in 1996. It went like stink even with an LPG conversion.Never Knowingly Understood.

you havn't been rejected and valve seals wouldn't be affected by the missed service.....looking goodDoes the honda ecu lose all the fault codes if you disconnect the battery for a few hours like the vauxhalls do?
Not sure but it can't do any harm0 -
