A couple of weeks after I put too much oil in, I traveled behind a slow moving car for a couple of minutes in a low gear with the revs high ( I was waiting to over take) a couple of minutes later I was traveling fast and the revs just shot up, the car kept accelerating and I near soiled myself. I didn't know what was happening. I thought at the time the throttle was stuck. I put it in neutral, braked and switched the engine off. the engine kept running for a another few seconds before cutting out. a half hour later I started it, limped to a garage where they drained the excess oil out and suggested I give it a couple of days for the oil to burn through. that was a couple of weeks ago and although it doesn't over rev anymore it sounds terrible, does 28 instead of 38 to the galleon and spits out blue smoke.0

Piston rings may be shot. You need to watch the oil carefully, as you may find you are getting diesel into the oil, which will fill the sump up again.0

If you have ****ed the engine that would be a first for a Honda vTech engine!

I think not, do believe I managed to **** one in my S2000. It was quickly shipped back to Japan and a new one installed at half price (was out of warranty)“Quis custodiet ipsos custodes?”

Is there likely to be permanent damage if the sump doesn't run dry?
Not necessarily. You might get away with it.

Don't these engines rev at something like 10,000 rpm? Great little car though. My son had one and loved it.I used to think that good grammar is important, but now I know that good wine is importanter.0 -

9,000RPM. Must admit, probably the best car I have ever owned. Constantly regret changing her, and will probably get another one again.“Quis custodiet ipsos custodes?”

I should have been able to, but at the time I couldn't. £150 or whatever is still a lot of money when you haven't got any. Not defending myself for not doing it just asserting that I was skint as apposed to apathetic0 -
It's a diesel. The petrols rev to around 8k - the diesels won't rev that high. The diesel is unlikely to be a V-Tec.The man without a signature.0
