Hi guys, well i've had a really good day today and am feeling festive...might have something to do with the glass of wine at my side! (had to go back and check my spelling lol)
Right, so had a good day at work and getting ready for the works Do tomorrow night. I managed to get my boss to agree into letting me have £20 of the budget to put together a hamper which i'm going to raffle off in aid of Mencdap, our charity of the year. Also did the food shopping for the party and got that sorted, and put a couple more of the staff members onto the new training system and took them through what they need to do. All in all a productive day. I have decided to try a bit harder with the debts so looked at my bank account yesterday and then took the £14 pound odd and paid it off the Tesco card, then decided that once a month, once all bills are paid, i will round down the bank account to the nearest rounf 50 pounds. So this month that has meant about £14 extra off as well as the minimum payment. I know it's not much but it's a bit extra, just until we can throw some real money at it.
The envelopes are working well, i have £100 left for grocery's this month, and should only need to use about £70 of it it think. Looking good this month, and can't wait til i get paid in two weeks time. I will be able to pay off the loan payment for January using what's left in the account at the moment, then The pay day at the end of December, well, i'll have £450 to pay off the Tesco card, or i could put it to one side and use it with Januarys pay day to pay off the loan early. Only by one month but still early. It's one of those loans where you can pay it off early but only if you pay the full outstanding amount.0 -
Oh, almost forgot, got my Orange mobile on a new contract now and have got more minutes and texts for less monay, so now we are only paying £20 a month for both mobiles instead of more than £40!!
It's going to be a good year this year, i can feel it:)0 -
Just transferred £73.23 from Playtrade to the current account, once it's visible i'm going to pay it off the Tesco card. I think we are definately going to put the extra money from this month to one side and try to pay the loan off sooner. Going to go check what's in the envelopes!0

Hello all, hope a good season has been had. I have been mostly at work but have today off so i'm cleaning and cooking and catching up on washing, as well as a bit of Christmas telly i recorded. Managed to pay off about £80 off the credit card this month, so that's double the minimum payment which i think is quite good.
Planning a good month of nsd's i'm drawing out the monthly money on Thursday and then planning out where we should be at the end of January. I think we'll be ok, i'm not looking forward to the VAT increase, not only will i be dealing with the effect on my bank balance, but i'll have to deal with the customers reaction at work tooWhat things are exempt from the VAT increase? I know there are some things you don't pay VAT on, but i don't know what they are. I think it's essentials, but what comes under that?
Anyway, off to catch up with a couple of diaries i follow and then i might pop back!0 -
Morning guys, well i've just got off the phone with the bank and the news is not good and a bit good
) So. The signature has been updated with the new figures now i have rung the loan company. Although on my account it shows as £1188 including all interest to pay off the loan in full, we have to pay £1350.20. Now this is not good as it's £162 more than i thought, but, i have worked out that if we stick to the envelopes and we pay the DD and don't use the cards then we could actually pay it off by the end of January!!!! The payment for January comes out on the 1st for £453.46, then I have £400 put to one side from last months wages and could have about £500 out of this months so couls pay off the remaining £896.74. It will mean not having any spare money in January, but it would then mean that the loan is gone. So we could then just have the CC to pay. I realy hope we can do it, and i'm trying to find ways to make extra money this month, plus in my next pay cheque i should have a bit extra about £90 i think, because i should get double pay for Boxing Day and New Years Day. I don't know...we'll see what happens i guess!

Right, have applied for a refund for £24.97 from Tesco, an iron i ordered and then because of snow haven't been able to go and get, then realised if i've managed with the old one for the last month, then i probably don't need to drive to Tesco to collect my order, so i rang them this morning and asked them to send it back and asked for a refund.
For tea tonight we are having leftover vegetable pie from the other night, plus some reduced veggies, and layered potatoes with onion and garlic. Yummy!
Leek and potato soup is made and bubbling on the hob
20p for a bag of spuds and 30p for the leeks, plus a stock cube = about 5 portions of soup for 12p each...excellent.
Chilli con carne (my style. lentils and veggie mince)
1 tin toms, 1 tin beans, 1 tin kidney beans, some lentils mince and an onion
i think about £2.00 for probably 6 portions, so not too bad
Feeling very domestic today0 -
So, targets for next year...realistic ones!
1. Pay off Co-op Loan once January's DD have gone, this will probably be around the 10th January
2. When i get paid at the end of January, 27th, pay £453 to Tesco CC, this is what we were paying off the loan each month so we won't miss it.
3. When i get paid in February, 24th, pay £453 to Tesco CC, including the minimum payments this should mean only about £380 left on the CC at the end of Feb, which we should be able to pay off using left over money from my wages.
4. Should be debt free by March 10th i reckon
5. when the DD have been paid each month, this should be around the 10th depending on when Orange take my bill out, any remaining money will be put into savings except for £100. This leaves us a buffer in the current account which will build each month and also will allow us to put extra money to one side, which then helps my hubby to forget it exists, and therefor not spend it!
So
10th Jan - Co-op Loan paid off in full
10th March - Tesco CC paid off in full
30th December - 11 pay days til then, so should be able to save 11x £500 so £5500!!!!!
OMG (and i never say that) i think this year could be the year to really start our saving!0 -
