Hi..it's a dilemma but I'd keep quiet about your pregnancy at work until the promotions are sorted..unfortunately there is more prejudice about than anyone would like to think.

Hope first MW apt goes well..very exciting!

Good new year for me..but back to work...boo..could definitely do without it! It's highly overrated as my grandfather used to say!

I would keep quiet for the moment as well, not sure at what stage you have to tell your employer but i know its not too early. You have time on your side just see how things go you will know when its time. Good luck with the promotion, hows the debt busting going are you still on track ?

Debt busting was going well but then OH bought some lovely baby stuff, tried not to be too angry with him! We are goping to be about a tenner short on being able to pay off the loan so i'm emptying the sofa today! I think it's ok though as i get paid on the 27th so i could pay the loan off after i get paid and still not get charged anymore interest.

Justa bit annoying is all, as wanted to pay it off asap.

Other than that everything is going well, the envelopes are still working and i've not gone over budget on grocery shopping this week which makes a change for me, i can't resist food shopping!

Hi guys, i have still not told anyone about the pregnancy, except hubby and you guys, and it's so hard! I am feeling good today, had a lovely breakfast in bed made by hubby and managed to sleep properly last night for the first time in a week. The money saving is going well still, still on budget for the months food and only 11 days until pay day! The loan will be gone, followed swiftly by the CC then it's baby saving all the way!

Off for a walk in the park later with a friend so really looking forward to a good gossip as we wander. Then i have to visit my sister and learn the rules of caring for her pets, all 5 of them, they are botha away for work in a couple of weeks time and i'd said if they ever needed help with the pets to give me a ring...not so sure that was a good idea!

Right, well got back from the park to an open alleyway gate. Now our gate locks and you can only open it from the outside with a key, or from the otherside without a key. It was def closed when i went out, now it was open...hhhmmm i thought, wonder if my neightbour (doesn't live there) has popped by to put his bins out, or do some diy on the house or something. So i popped down the alley and found nothing, noone down there, no neighbour, so i then went back towards the street and noticed that our ladder had been stoledn from where it normally hangs on the wall. As i walked out a car drove by and a man shouted out at me 'you want to beware of thieves ound here duck' so then i was really freaked out, went back down to look through the window in case we'd been burgled but everything else was fine. Knocked on a couple of neighbours and the people who live opposite and noon had seen anything, or they weren't in. So called the police (local number not 999) and reported it. It gave me a really big fright though, i have such a phobia of people being in my space without my permission, also i have 2 house cats and i actually worry that if we ever get burgled the cats will get out and get run over. I don't give two hoots about the tv and dvd or whatever they might want to actually steal, i just get scared they'll let my cats out :) Luckily the ladder isn't worth anythingmoney wise, now i'm a bit scared though, always felt safe in this house but now i felt really vulnerable this afternoon. I'm sure i'll feel better tomorrow!

That's horrid. not nice at all. But seems like its ok? After a neighbour got burgled I got an alarm. Even one of this fake boxes might be a deterrent. Know what you mean about pets..but try not to let it get to you too much x

Morning all. Well just about to update my sig as the loan is gone!!!!!! Had to call twice to get a true settlement figure but then just paid it off. Goodness it felt good to say those words...'I'd like to pay of my loan' ' How much would you like to pay off madam?' ' All of it please, the total balance' What a feeling.

We now can throw everything we've got at the credit card. I think this month we should be able to pay off about £400, if we can do the same for the next couple of months then that will be gone too! I think realistically we will be debt free in probably, April. Well off now to chat to my fellow bumpy ladies.

Morning guys, well haven't posted for ages and things have changed a lot since i last did so quick update

    now 26 weeks pregnant
working at a diffferent store as the promotion i wanted didn't materialise and it was move or be made redundant, hate it though and want to go back to my old store:(
Paid off the loan and a mighty chunk of the credit card

Onto the news...we found out today that we are getting an inheritance. I've never had an inheritance before as none of my relatives were well off and usually only left debts, but hubby's nan passed away in January and they have finally sorted the finances out and it looks like we are set in inherit somewhere in teh region of about £8000. So what to do...

    1. Pay off the credit card
    2. Pay off the loan we took from my parents when we needed to buy a new car
    3. Buy new sofas, this was our next thing we were saving for aftere saving to pay off the CC so now we can do it early.

If we do these 3 things we should be left with about £4500

So what to do with it? Ideas and suggestions welcome. We've never had anywhere near this amount of money. I ususally think we're doing well if we hit the end of the month and are in the black! I think we should set aside a savings account for the baby, with maybe £1000 in it, something long term that will never get tounched to take money out but that we can add to over the years and give to the baby when they turn 21

The rest i think we should put £1000 into an instant access ISA which i know pays less interest but could act as an emergency budget should we need a new boiler etc

Then the remaining £2500 i'm not sure, we could lock it into a long term saving acount but i'm not sure what interest rates are like or which banks do good deals or anything

I also heard from my solicitors this week that my comp claim is coming to an end and i should have the money in the next 2 months, they think it will be around £2300 so this we are going to set aside to top up my SMP. This will allow me to not have to go back to work for about 9 months if i don't want to:)

My usual wage is just under £1000 a month so work will pay me this for 3 months of mat leave, then SMP will pay £600 per 4 weeks and i can top up about 5/6 months with the comp pay if we needed to, i may even be able to stretch it out for a full year!

It's weird we've never been in a situation where we have had to decide what option to take before, it's always been 'well all we can do is' or 'well if we don't pay x we can pay y'

Hope all is well with everyone and speak soon x
