Doh...maybe that was where I was going wrong. It's all so simple now. :rotfl:0 -
I've only used Coinstar machines a couple of times and enjoyed watching it eat the coins and the numbers adding up. Small things as they say....
Is it worth giving away 7.9% for this entertainment?
I look at it this way... £100 in 2p and 1p coins is a minimum of 5000 icoins (2p) or 10000 (1p) coins. Yes, ten thousand!
Working on the lower figure, 5000 coins, and assuming you counted at 1 coin per second without losing count and having to start over, this would take you 5000 seconds or 83.33 minutes, let's call it an hour and twenty minutes to count them out.
Not counting the time spent bagging them up, travelling to the bank and waiting in the queue to dispose of your bags you've worked for an hour and a third to save just under £8 making you £1.73 better off than had you worked the same hours at minimum wage.
Personally I don't let change accumulate. My cunning plan is to take exactly 99p in mixed change whenever I make a cash purchase, that way you can "helpfully" offer the shopkeeper the change part of the sale.0
