We have a penny jar (Well it's a pint glass actually) which we regularly chuck all the pennies and small change into that's lying around.. it was 1/2 full yesterday so we took it to one of those coinstar machines and got £5.19 back!!! Amazing what a bit of small change adds up to!

You do know this coinstar takes some of your money too?
Next time just count it up- shouldnt take too long:beer: Well aint funny how its the little things in life that mean the most? Not where you live, the car you drive or the price tag on your clothes.
Theres no dollar sign on piece of mind
This Ive come to know...
So if you agree have a drink with me, raise your glasses for a toast :beer:0 -
I love them too. I can live with the 8% charge out of sheer laziness!
We tend to do ours every 6 months Christmas and summer holiday and usually net about £40 from 2p,1p and 5p jars.
I know I could bank them for free but then I would have to count them, bag them and make a specific trip into a town to do it. Much easier to do on a supermarket trip.'If you have a garden and a library, you have everything you need' Marcus Tullius Cicero0 -
We use the coinstar in out local supermarket. Usually get £40 out of our jar. we cash in before going on holiday - the £40 pays for drinks / food in the airport and on the plane.
The 8% we can live with as counting and bagging of coins is not my idea of fun. I hate the stinck of coins on my hands after the counting is complete.0 -
I'm with lynz on the 8%
I tell everyone I know not to use them. In fact for an 8% fee I'll count the lotThe early bird gets the worm but the second mouse gets the cheese :cool:0 -

I totally agree with Lynz - we spent all evening countinh the 5p coins that we had saved in a Bell's Whiskey bottle - it took over a year to fill and it came to over £100. I wouldn't like to feel that someone else had got a profit out of our endeavour.
Besides, with three of us sitting at the table counting, we had no alternative but to talk to eachother - made a change.I am NOT, nor do I profess to be, a Qualified Debt Adviser. I have made MANY mistakes and have OFTEN been the unwitting victim of the the shamefull tactics of the Financial Industry.
If any of my experiences, or the knowledge that I have gained from those experiences, can help anyone who finds themselves in similar circumstances, then my experiences have not been in vain.
