I agree with this, I can either use the machine at my sainsburys (on route home) or I can drive 20 miles to my bank and back, and then pay parking. i think there is a place for these machines! however our change terramundi pot will probably only be emptied once a year, so we will go to the bank for that.0 -
I get my children to count it up. A great lesson in maths for them and they get to keep 10%. Ok, the rate is higher than coinstar but it keeps it within the family and then I don't give them pocket money. They are 5 and 7 and haven't made a mistake yet. I'll higher them out for a fee!January budget

Talking of change etc etc, when I was waiting at for the bus home the other day there was a lad just chucking his pennies on the ground. Obviously too much hassle to have pennies in his pocket, so he just chucked them on the ground. My youngest gathered them up and kept them for his money jar.“Ordinary riches can be stolen, real riches cannot. In your soul are infinitely precious things that cannot be taken from you.” - Oscar Wilde0

Doesn't the Commision go to charity ?
I used a coinstar machine to count my brother in laws change bottle and it returned £500, I had more money then. If it was now I'd do it by hand and trouser the commission.0 -

my post office changes as much as you like at a time which is handy and less embarrassing when you only want £1 for some milk from the local shop.0

My Halifax account won't let me pay more than 5 bags in, but local shop is always more than willing to take £1 coins,£2 coins 50ps etc off me as they pay for change, usually the local pubs cry out for it too, we get loads with DP being a taxi driver.
I cash in over £100 worth at a time, no way I would pay 8% on it.One day I might be more organised...........
GC: £200
Slinkies target 2018 - another 70lb off (half way to what the NHS says) so far 25lb0 -
I always use the stamp machines in the post office - it takes 1p, 2p and 5p coins - and you can either take the stamps or press refund and it spits back 20p coins...0
