HI all, I've always reuse my bags when I go shopping, for the bins in the house. I also use them for nappy sacks, I refuse to buy them.0

I will reuse my bags when Tescos stop wasting electricity with their we are open 24 hours nonsense.
I would suggest a bigger environmental benefit would be if Tesco closed at 10pm and reopened at 6am nationwide.Only one Debt left and thats the Mortgage

Some of us RnRers and chocolate addicts, need as much time as possible to get our due refunds etc. We need some 24hrs please. Overall, they are a terribly wasteful company, short term profit is where it's at.
I do reuse/reuse/reuse etc until not further possible. But frequently staff forget to put points on.Also remind them before they close your shopping bill and double check when walking away.
Don't let Tesco get away with unfilfilled promises.
1 'lad' in my local express tried insisting that the bag/s have to be full! Got the manager called to confirm to him that it was for each bag used, and therefore a new 1 saved, per point.
Larger vessels (rucksacks, boxes etc) should get more. My local store is so over-run with teenage schoolkid part-time staff. Do they care?0 -
I have long reused my carriers and also stack full the basket under my sons pushchair....and ever since Tescos introduced the green points thing I have had a battle with them to get the green points. If you notice now they have taken down all teh signs etc around the stores reminding you about green points. Celarly it is just a marketing promo to make Tescos seem consumer friendly & be seen to jump on the green wagon. If every little helps then they shoudl fulfuil thweir promises & give you evey little bit!
When I do take carreirs form shops I always reuse them as bin liners, nappy sacks etc around the house.Post Natal Depression is the worst part of giving birth:p
In England we have Mothering Sunday & Father Christmas, Mothers day & Santa Clause are American merchandising tricks:mad: Demonstrate pride in your heirtage by getting it right please people!0 -
I think I annoy my local Tesco, as almost all my reuseable bags have Sainsburys plastered across the sides
Well, it's not my fault they've given out loads of good freebies this year - insulated bags with the cooked meats etc at the start of summer, then the Jute bags with the organic fruit and veg last month.
I've noticed, if I have those bags with me, I generally have to ask for/remind them about the green points, whereas if I have a couple of Tesco bags for life, or unbranded bags, I get the points easily :rotfl:
Other than a couple of bags from the chemist for a rather large prescription I collected last week, and a few from a Tesco delivery, I haven't brought a carrier into the house for over two months nowDFW Nerd no. 884 - Proud to [strike]be dealing with[/strike] have dealt with my debts0 -
I've re-used carrier bags for years. The other day I was shopping in Asda, and packed my shopping into my own bags as usual. The lady on the checkout was very interested, she had recently moved here (Aberdeen) from London, she said that when she worked in London hardly anybody brought their own bags, but she'd seen it a lot since she moved. Perhaps because there seem to be a lot of land-fill sites (visible ones) around here? That's what made me start recycling a few years ago.
The Tesco green points are good - every little (point) helps! But when I have my shopping delivered the amount of bags is ridiculous! Why do they need to put one little box of asprin in it's own bag? Or one wee tub of coleslaw all by itself??0 -

I don't often go to Tesco, but I always have my own bags and yes, I usually have to ask for the points. Last time I hadn't spent a whole £1, so when I handed over my card the lad said "But it's only for spending over £1" and I said "But I'd like my green point, please." He didn't seem to like it, but I can't help that!
I have several thin cotton bags which I tend to keep with me, they take up next to no space in my handbag, and then some bigger, thicker bags in the boot of the car. When we go shopping properly, we have the kind of bags which don't stuff down small! But I don't like carrying carrier bags so have always tended to have my own bags for shopping.Signature removed for peace of mind0 -
I always try and reuse bags, and thanks to Tescos for the green points. (But you really do have to catch the cashier before they start packing don't you!)
As we don't have a car we get our 'big shop' delivered, and we always give last time's carriers back to the driver, to be recycled. I wish there was a magical way that they could deliver our shopping with no bags (lend us the green boxes or something) but I realise that this is complicated. And I agree with Jodun - why are there rarely more than three items in a bag!!!
My current problem is the amount of little plastic carrier bags for fruit and veg. I occassionally use Tesco's and often use the local greengrocer. Bring back recyclable brown paper bags!0 -
KleptisV, that's another thing - fruit & veg bags. Why do people but a bunch of bananas in a bag? You don't eat the skin, and they're already attached to each other!!0

Are you having to ask for your green points when re using bags? I re-use but have only manage green points once (gave me 3 for a £50 shop) and I had to ask. They look at you stupid like they've never heard what your talking about. Was even told I had to reuse old tesco bags when I had the big shopping bags0
