Unfortunately lego tends to hold its price really well. The amazon sale was a splendid offer and congrats to all those who got stuff they wanted. As an adult collector of lego the sets really go up in price after they are discontinued. I bought a cafe corner for £90 from lego.com and now they are selling for £275 + on ebay.nice tho!51Iua7jxM9L__SL500_AA280_.jpg

So as an adult collector would you know which sets are going to be discontinued to buy them?

My son is 10 and he does not like the big intricate sets, he prefers the lego men, little boxes of construction rather than last year which was lego star wars and far too hard for him to do, he lost heart so this year we sold it on ebay and the money is going to the sets we know he can make and will bring him endless hours of imagination fun:D

  • There are various sites that i use that have information about lines and themes that lego are discontinuing.

There is a whole new police theme for 2011, due out mid december i think, so maybe some of the police sets like 7744 may be on offer at argos/tru etc. The city farm sets are also due to be replaced by a city space port theme.

The green grocer set is also going to be discontinued in 2011 so i would suggest anyone interested buy it before they end up on ebay for £300

  • Unbelievable. I hated paying £90 for some lego my cafe corner although it is a great set and fun to build. One here sold a few days ago for £260 inc postage

  • Their prices amaze me how they go up and down,

I bought the lego police station a few months ago for about £44,

Immediately after I bought it, I came in here to post about it, checked the price again before I posted and it had gone back to £60!
I am sure Amazon have someone who spends all day checking forums and competitors prices! Someone has just posted a link and it is already back up at the previous price!

    FiFi :)

I wonder if there will be any more bargains up to xmas? I do not remember this bargains last year on amazon but then again I was not so avidly looking and I was only up for the sainsburys online sale at the time so ended up going to the amazon and buying from them and then going in perso to sainsburys:D

I have 12 lego city and 2 lego creator and 1 xl board and 1 lego minfigure collectors box, madness for 1 child:rotfl::D

I know he will love the collectors box as he is very particular about his lego men and where they go
