Hi KC - glad it's not just me that's a bit 'guzzly' when it comes to drinks, I drink rather too quickly for my own good sometimes :o

Thanks for the make up ego boost :A it's not just my vanity though, other people ask me if I am or have been ill :(. Same with my lips - they're so pale I look all washed out & errr ill. Cant bear the feeling of foundation on my skin though - it's like being suffocated unless it's the light minerals powder variety which doesnt bother me at all. This is why I need to live somewhere warm & sunny so I have an eternal healthy glow :D

    Lets' talk money :

DD had a big night out tonight - her first clubbing event which means that I am now officially sad & old as she goes out & I stay in waiting for her to come home :(. It's an under 16's club & she has been so excited all day. It's only £4 if you get down to the library to buy tickets in advance off 'the man'. If however, like us you get there too late, then it's £6 on the door . I wont make that mistake again. I came over all maternal & insisted on topping up her phone too in case she didnt like it & wanted to come home early. As if :rotfl:. So, that's £11 spent , other wise there's been no spend at all.

I'm all up to date with all chores & the laundry, just have to complete the ironing tomorrow & make some hobnobs as we're visiting my grandmother in the afternoon & I promised to bring some over.

We seem to have plenty of meals left which further proves just how much money I waste each month, but keeping my store cupboard full & then buying more food for actual eating.

I'm working on the assumption that I have to produce another 8 as payday falls on a monday, unless by some marvellous fluke we get paid on the 28th this month. T'would be fab but most unlikely.

I've now received the TV licence payment schedule for this year & while I gain an extra £22 by not having to pay for water in Feb, I lose by having to shell out £37 for the TV licence.

I've also finally got around to sorting through all the paperwork that was camouflaging the dining table. Contents insurance docs & breakdown cover all neatly filed away. Bank statements all sent to their respective sections in the file & the 0% CC application form hidden under the boring ISA news.

I need to think of something fun to do on friday as DD has an inset day - hence how fab it would be to get paid.

Should be another NSD tomorrow :)

    xx

just picturing your DD going to her first clubbing event makes me smile as I can remember when my girls went to their 1st one.
You're doing great on this meal planning stuff..you've even got me thinking about it now as we have loads of stuff in then go and buy stuff on top.
    have a good day x

I do that too, stocking up the storecupboard and then buying stuff, I'm dreadful. I've at least been using a bit this week - herbs, ginger and quorn. I'm trying (very trying - I'll get me coat :) )

Still think my explanation on the makeup is valid, Lula - other people are used to seeing you in it too. Doesn't really matter tho - you like the way you look in it, and you're prepared to put the work in. Can I ask one thing tho - that mineral powder stuff - I've just seen an advert on tv for it (first coffee of the day, thats my excuse) - is it really as good as that? Expert opinion wanted .... I'm trying to up my game ....

    Morning all,

DD is still fast asleep & I'm lingering as I know I have a large pile of ironing awating me. It never takes more than an hour each week though & I love having everything organised.

Karma - I know what you;re saying about the lippie, mascara & liner but I look & feel drab without it, so wont be giving it up for a while yet.

I really like the minerals makeup as it gives a nice even colour & is very easy to put on. My skin just doesnt like having liquidy stuff on it. I've tried various ones & I really hate the smothered feeling of it. I would recommend going to somewhere like The bodyshop, benefit or debenhams so you can get advice on the right colour for your skin tone - you dont want to look tangoed :rotfl:.

Right, I need to get on with ironing so will be bak later.

Oh I'm not saying you shouldn't - after all, I'm looking at *starting* - just that you're used to the colour/intensity, so you don't look good when you take it off.

Good point - I'll keep a watchout for freebie makeovers.

Think they do freebie makeovers all the time in the hope that you'll buy the products.

That's true, the trouble is I only want them to do my colours so I can take notes of each product then run home & buy it all through quidco :rotfl:. both Body Shop & Benefit have really good deals going on there.

I do like my colour intensity - throw back from the gothic days ;)

Well, all the ironing is done although I will need to do another load of laundry later on as forgot to do DDs bed linen. Took all the kitchen scraps to the compost bin & discovered loads of wigglers having a feast in there. Gave it a bit of a stir & then had to attend to the temporary green house cover - must collect all that perspex from Dad.

Hobnobs baked & duly tested .

Just got to wash up & then off to visit rellies.

    Bye for now

    I've had a very satisfying weekend :)

All the chores are done, the place is clean & tidy, the laundry is all done & I've sorted through all the paperwork & updated my diary, the spreadsheet & the Big Pink Book. DD had a great time at the club & is keen to go again to the next event in March. I wore my new dress & felt really happy in it, not at all self conscious.

Went to visit the rellies & distribute some hobnobs & sprinkle a bit of love & happy dust. Rellies are well & appreciative of hobnobs & gave DD a large tin of biccies as a gift. Luckily they're not my kind so am leaving them well alone.

We came home to a delicious & virtually free meal. We had the remains of the christmas bacon rolls, stuffing & potatoes, the freebie carrots & parsnips from generous neighbour & we had 4 sausages left of the pack I bought the other day that only cost £1 originally for all 8. So, for a mere 50p we have had a fabulous feast :)

Other than that, I've had a bit of success with a lovely Per Una coat I bought from ebay for about £12. It's a kind of pale camel colour & although it was perfectly clean when it arrived, I wore it a lot when it was really cold & snowy as it's very long & warm, but due to getting in & out of the car & nasty weather it had developed a distinctly grubby tinge to the bottom.

Although about 80% wool it's only lined to the waist & as it appeared very similar to a fleecy blanket I decided to risk putting it in a delicate wool wash rather than pay for dry cleaning ...

It has come out super clean :) I hung it to dry & ironed it while still very slightly damp & then left it in the airing cupbard overnight & it looks like new :j. I'm chuffed to bits.

The food situation is looking ok, we still have the chicken, quorn chunks & quorn mince as well as plenty of pasta & 3 jars of sauce. We will need more milk & possibly more bread but can wait until tuesday for that.

The CC minimum payment of £28.75 went out of the bank earlier so I amde another payment to tidy up the balance & it's now an extremely neat £2500.

Plans for the week ahead involve:

being as frugal with fuel as possible,
using up food supplies & only buying essential extras,
    keeping to the exercise schedule,
    getting more early nights,
    no booze,
& maintaining my calm & postive aura :D

    Happy Week to all

    xx
  • Well done on a Frugal Sunday Lula-err what do you call an early night? For me it is usually 1am or so..:)

KC - I'm trying Bodyshops minerals at the moment. As Lula says it's quick and easy to apply. The only thing is I've got fairly dry skin, so it seems to dry out too much part way through the day. Maybe I need a better/richer day cream as a base, or maybe I'll try the liquid/cream foundations again. Bodyshop do a spray that supposedly freshens it up, but it doesn't seem that effective.

When I had a Bodyshop makeover, they were doing a promotion with free cupcakes, basically you had to buy a product or do a donation to charity. Some places like you to prebook the makeover.

Oh at Bodyshop they did ask what sort of look I wanted, I went for the fairly natural look. Also they asked why, some people want a 'new look' whereas I just said I wanted to update products & techniques. Do go through your current makeup first though, it's very easy to buy things you don't need because you've got something nearly identical at home.

Lula - well done on successfully getting the coat cleaned. Like your plans for the week too :)
