I appreciate your confidence in my ability Taxi, but I'm sure it's just a temporary situation !
I'm a very lazy moose really, although I'm thinking of getting the idea of a supper club for the singletons going at work. Two of the guys there reckon they love cooking & I sure love eating food that someone else has cooked
I do need to get my place in order first though, the hallway desperately needs painting, I just cant face doing it at the moment, that whole ladder over the stairs thing really freaks me out.
I'm still lounging about as I've been doing surveys & then a rellie called to ask if I would consider being executor of their will :undecided. They are not happy with the current ones (due to one being involved in the ongoing & as yet unresolved inheritance drama between 2 other family members) & plan to change them.
The rellie has instructed me to watch the will writing prog on bbc so Ive just done that. I now need to find out exactly what the executor does. I've agreed to be elected on the proviso that they're very careful for the next few months as I'm very busy until May
All this means that the ironing is still sat in the airing cupboard so I'm about to pour another coffee down my throat & get on with it. No plans to go anywhere as it's wet & windy so it should be a NSD0 -

Wow, that is a great honour. I wrote a will when I bought my flat and I asked my sister and one of my best friends. I know my sister will be fair and honest and there is not one shred of 'drama' about her. My best mate is great on things like selling property, financial stuff and the like so I thought she'd be great support for my sister.
Obviously I hope that this help isn't required for years and years but good to think of this stuff now when it doesn't seem real if you know what I mean.
Your relative has obviously seen the same qualities in you and that is why they've asked. Such a nice compliment.
And well done on the cooking and stuff. that is what I do, it does result in some 'unconventional' dinners and pairings but so long as you like what you eat - what does it matter? I've not bought much food this year and I'm trying to keep it that way. I bought some parsnips for 15p in the sale section and have roasted them with some spuds. I'm having it with a salmon fishcake that I found in the freezer. And looking forward to it all!I've got my own flat :j:j
Now I have to pay the bills

All this food sounds fantastic! Both makeup and Lula, well done to the pair of you. Lula, you have such an entertaining style in the way you write, its odd to think that what you've actually written about is a quietish weekend at home with your young daughter, with your dad popping in ..... and finding ways to save money on the supermarket bill
I'm glad you've discovered it.
Executors - well, you don't do anything for years and years and years, and then all hell breaks loose. How good of you to remind your rellie not to die till May at least:D:D

I just watched that 'can't take it with you' show on BBC iplayer and I thought it was really annoying!!
That presenter seemed really really keen on rubbish amateur psycology! And he also didn't seem to consider that if you inheirit money you might spend it.
He kept going on that money he left to his wife would then go to whatever she left her money for however if I inheirited any money it would spent on a wide range of fabulous things, everything I've inheirited so far has been spent and unless I died really soon after inheiriting I'm sure it would all be gone by the time I died!!!!I've got my own flat :j:j
Now I have to pay the bills

What a fab spend!
When my Great-Uncle died I bought a load of clothes (was a student at the time and hadn't bought new clothes in ages and looked a right state!)
When my Nan died I used the money for various things including two gorgeous rings which I got in her memory, trips to LA, Miami and Tunisia (thank god I made it there before now!) and it formed the basis of my savings for my flat deposit.
My Grandma's inheiritance went straight off money I owed to my parents so effectively it also paid some of my flat deposit.
I would love for anyone inheiriting anything from me to spend it on a fabulous holiday or gorgeous jewellery!I've got my own flat :j:j

I agree - although people are unlikely to inherit from me as I am more of a 'you can't take it with you' girlSometimes it's hard to walk in a single woman's shoes - that's why we need really special ones!Total debt @ Oct 2008: £29,226.42 Credit Card- £[STRIKE]7493.56[/STRIKE] - £7243.56Weightloss : 0/34lbs0

Me too, whenever I manage to have savings they are always for something specific so they go quite soon! this is part of my 'future fantasy' where I actually have money in the bank that isn't for anything and is just waiting there to be spent.....I've got my own flat :j:j

Very interesting reading about your inheritance plans.
I quite agree about the amateur psychology aspect of it but I suppose he was trying to show that if a person has specific wishes, then they need to consider that everything may change after a partner dies.
I do understand how someone without children would not be happy to lose their home to their partners children from a previous relationship.
More than anything, it actually made me quite determined to remain single so that if there's anything left when I'm done, it will go directly & equally to my girls, although they'd quite like to make a start on some of my things now :rotfl:.
It's a very tricky subject, but I think that people should perhaps be more open about their intentions before they die. The nasty situation in our family is quite complex, but basically there are 2 siblings, one of whom was estranged from the parent for nearly 15 years, but zoomed in at the 11th hour to be reunited & then inherit the entire estate ( 2 houses + shares/bonds etc) whereas the other sibling who had remained in contact throughout apart from the 11th hour when they were unaware of how imminent death was, has inherited perhaps a 20th of the other siblings. It's all quite unpleasant & I've decided to remain well out of it, as I have no interest in taking sides or putting myself in the firing line. I think this is why I've been asked to be an executor , which is as makeup said, a great compliment.
I shall watch the rest of the series as it may reveal certain things I wasnt previously aware of.
Anyway, back to the gritty reality of debtsville & living on a budget. The recycled christmas dinner sausages went into the casserole dish along with some par boiled ( get me ,using the fancy cooking lingo :rotfl:) potatoes, chunky veg & the remains of the chilli sauce, beefed up - pardon the pun - with some bisto. It was really tasty & DD ate hers without any grimacing at all at the cauliflower. There was almost enough left for another meal so we've agreed that she can have the chilli tomorrow & I'll have the casserole sauce & veg ( sausages all went in DDs tummy) with a jacket potato.
This is fun & I may well continue with this idea into next month. At my current level of CC payments, I will have an £800 shortfall to reach target so either need to make drastic cuts to food budget or face having to use a lot of my wages to clear the CC by my target date. _pale_
I have been naughty & ordered a pair of fab shoes

but I have paid using gift money so it wont affect any other budgets & I also vow to wear them at home for a few days to ensure they really are perfect & if not to return them.
Just to prove how very determined I am to continue with debt busting I have just paid another £95 to uncle richard which brings the total outstanding down to £2665
Having just seen the time I need to scoot or I'll be cream crackered for work & I have lots to do tomorrow, at least supper is all done though
Going to change siggy & then bed
G'night

Wow! Well done on your cooking efforts and paying off Uncle Richard. Re inheritances Mum and Dad have inherited a few times in their lives, a few grand the first time and then around £14,000 the second. Both times it was a huge lift for them and they used it for housey stuff. It's aways nice to get money you haven't earnt and it has definetely made them smile!
