Farepak in administration: What to do? (Merged Thread)

It has just been on Look North (BBC Yorkshire) programme that the charity from York, the Family Fund, have been asked by the government to do this. The lady they talked to said they had been approached by the government to help, and that they had been in several weeks of talks with the government and the administrators.
This will be help for people who ordered vouchers. They are to take the money from the supermarkets, Park hampers, the government, individual donations etc, and then approach the vouchers distributors and get them for people.
They said they will be contacting local agents from as early as tomorrow, and hopefully some people will have something in the next few weeks. There is a website launching tomorrow, (sorry I didnt catch the full name as I was talking to my sister at the time!),
If it is repeated on the news later, I will let you knowYou're so very special, I wish I was special :dance:0 -

Have managed to catch up with the news tonight.Brilliant news if we will get some sort of package from the retailers, also fanatastic news for all those who have been refunded if they have used their visa cards. If some have had a complete refund, will they also have a goodwill gesture from the retailers along with those of us who haven`t been able to get any sort of refund at all because we paid by cash and cheque?0 -
All this talk about retailers and other organisations donating to a fund is all very well and good. They are to be congratulated. However, we all know it will not be enough to recompense the poor souls who have lost so much. Why has the prime minister not made any comment? why has there been no statement from HBOS? and more especially why is there no mention of prosecuting the thieving b
's who took the money in the first place?0 -
This Farepak fiasco has been a nightmare for all agents and customers alike,it`s so easy for some to judge as to whether we the victims should have been saving in this way,but I have been an agent with them for 15 years and am not follish or naive0

I have been fortunate enough to have Barclays credit my Account today with the full amount i paid by Barclays Visa Debit.
I have had no correspondence from them though, just a credit on my Account0 -
Hi,
I had appointment in Halifax today to fill in charge-back form for payments made using my Halifax card.
The lady i spoke to was very helpful, she told me that they had received email today from head office. It briefly said that once claims had been emailed to administrators the clients account would be credited with full amount, but to warn clients that that there is a very small risk that this money could be debited back by the bank if administrators refute the the claim.
I only wish i paid all my money in like this but hoping to get £80 back:rotfl:0 -

I presume that because they have had the money that they have paid to Farepak by visa cards refunded they won't get compensated by the goodwill gesture.0 -
I paid by visa debit but my bank are not really willing to take me on unless i get written comfirmation from Farepak, which could take how long? I'm not sure how this will work now and if we do get a good will gesture do we have to apply for it? Does anyone else have any more information.0

Yes I'm sure that will make the job longer to sort out, when they have to establish who has already had a refund via their banks, and hope that people will be honest and upfront to say that they have already been paid.
I paid by Direct Debit so had no return from the bank.
Does anyone know who we have to get in touch with in order to reclaim from this new source?0
