but £34M to the parent company, not to Farepak, so I guess that money won't be available to the people who are looking forward to a bleak Christmas.0

I am devastated having struggled all year for nothing !!!0 -
I feel so sorry for all those people who have lost their money in this way. I wonder if we could get together and help? I have quite a few Nectar vouchers on my card and would be more than willing to donate them. How about it Martin? Can you set something up for us to help? Perhaps you know executives from Sainsbury's, or perhaps Tesco - I am sure their customers would donate some of their points too - worth a try, do you think?
best wishes, Polly.0 -

Just look at that house......
HE OUGHT TO BE FORCED TO SELL THAT "HOME" AND DO A "ROBIN HOOD" AND GIVE THE PEOPLE THEIR MONEY BACK.
Thought I was in the same boat.... but thankfully not...... but I will not save with a hamper company again
Thinking of you all who have sadly lost to these "nasties" "s**m bags0 -
That article doesn't make sense - Farepak was owned 100% by European Home Retail which was a listed plc (formerly called Kleeneze plc). It certainly wasn't 58% owned by some bloke in Halifax.0

one thing tho everyone coughed up and a banks set up funds for earthquakes etc WHY dont they get off their !!!!!! n do one for the farepak families you might not have lost loved ones or your homes but you have lost money and your faith its easier to rebuild a home than rebuild your faith in a system thats so failed you all
WHAT???!!! Let's keep things in perspective.
Yes, they're theiving scum, robbing from those who need it.
Yes, it's sickening losing hard-earned money.
Yes, you deserve every bit of sympathy.
Yes, Christmas might be a struggle this year.
BUT Johnny missing out on a PSP or ending up with bangers and mash for Xmas lunch is better than Johnny not being there at all.
I've just been reading about that poor lad who was murdered in Bury and stuck in a wheelie bin, about the same age as my son. The loss of £100, £1000, £10000 does not even begin comparison. My Mum used to say that Christmas comes around whether you are ready and have money for it or not, it is time with the people you love that matters. She often had very little money but used to buy an extra tin or two for the Christmas shelf each week. The best Christmas I remember as a kid was a most unlikely one where my Dad had not been paid due to an admin error at work. We had to go stay with my Grandparents as Mum and Dad couldn't even afford the heating but everything was home made with love and care (all the decorations, food and pressies which were mainly hand knitted scarves  ) We played card games and charades etc and Mum was so pleased and surprised when I let her know years later that this was the Christmas I most remembered and enjoyed.
EXACTLY. Perhaps when you feel upset about the lost money, think about those who have lost something far more precious. 'At least you've got your health' may be a cliche but it's true.
Give Johnny a smaller present, he'll probably be happier with bangers and mash anyway and a bigger hug than usual.0 -
Just found this statement on BBC Working Lunch;
I am a previous employee of Farepak and project managed their websites. The whole issue has been down to a very poor senior management structure which has resulted in revenue being re-used by the parent company, European Home Retail. This has now meant a shortage to pay suppliers up front. This then means that they are unable to fulfill orders. This has been in the pipe-line for the past 6 months.

I wonder if the National Lottery people would consider us all a good cause and give us some unclaimed prize money!!0
