WHAT???!!! Let's keep things in perspective.
Yes, they're theiving scum, robbing from those who need it.
Yes, it's sickening losing hard-earned money.
Yes, you deserve every bit of sympathy.
Yes, Christmas might be a struggle this year.

BUT Johnny missing out on a PSP or ending up with bangers and mash for Xmas lunch is better than Johnny not being there at all.

I've just been reading about that poor lad who was murdered in Bury and stuck in a wheelie bin, about the same age as my son. The loss of £100, £1000, £10000 does not even begin comparison.

EXACTLY. Perhaps when you feel upset about the lost money, think about those who have lost something far more precious. 'At least you've got your health' may be a cliche but it's true.

Give Johnny a smaller present, he'll probably be happier with bangers and mash anyway and a bigger hug than usual.

    !!!!!! are you talkin about?

That really helps a lot of the people here who have lost out on the money they cant afford to lose hasnt it?

It has nothing to do with losing someone or not losing someone, its a different thing all together. Yes its terrible when anyone dies but, lets not be over dramatic here eh.

It still dosent change the fact that thousands of people have been robbed, and there is a lot of heartache caused by these gits.

So please keep stupid comments like that to yourself.

  • This is what I received back from my MSP today

S2M-4965 Ms Rosemary Byrne (South of Scotland) (Sol) : Help for Farepak Customers— That the Parliament notes with grave concern that Farepak, the Christmas hamper firm, has ceased trading, with no warning to customers and that Farepak states that customers may receive some money back, but not all; further notes that many of Farepak’s customers are on low incomes and have been making regular payments to the company throughout 2006, up to and including last month, and that the closure leaves many of them in financial difficulties, and calls on the Scottish Executive to undertake a full inquiry into the situation and to urge Farepak’s liquidators, as a priority, to repay all customers in full.

    Yours

I'm saying it needs to be kept in perspective. I read about the lad being killed in Bury, then watched a programme on BBC2 about kids who'd lost their mothers and then someone posts on here about 'never mind earthquake victims who've lost loved ones and homes, houses can be rebuilt. We've lost some money and faith in the system'.

    Well whoopy doo.

It doesn't remove the heartache of this situation, but if you stopped to consider for one moment what you or someone could have/has lost then it should certainly lessen it somewhat.

If it doesn't, your priorities are completely wrong.

Please keep it in perspective, everyone, and there is no need for back biting, Its not the end of the world she was trying to say, and after all everyone is entitled to thier opinon, ive lost money too and it is awful and I am angry but what the point in having a go at someone for thier view? At least we know now at not christmas week so we can tighten our belts and get bargain shoppping.

    The vouchers were never even on order, have a look at this reply I received from Bonusbond the company were most of us were getting our vouchers from;

"If you have recently ordered vouchers or are planning to order vouchers from Farepak, we are very sorry, but I’m afraid we cannot help you. The only advice we can give is to contact Farepak.

Grass Roots was merely a supplier to Farepak. However we have received no orders from them with respect to supplying bonusbonds to them for Christmas orders.

Farepak should not be featuring bonusbonds on their website and we have asked them to remove all mention of bonusbonds from their website".

And being the wife of a serving soldier, life is hard enough as it is, he served twice in Iraq, so when Christmas is here you try to make it that extra special, so when something like this happens it's hard as you've already been through so much stress already.

  • My sister-in-law and I are amongst the many who've lost money (nearly £800), I don't know how we'll manage to provide this year at Christmas without borrowing - even though we will be buying less.
We have not heard anything from farepak yet, sent our letter out on Sat 14th, financial ruin did not creep up on the directors out of the blue, only last tuesday they (farepak) cashed a cheque of ours for nearly £100, robbing b*****ds. They even had staff ringing us chasing up which vouchers we wanted as recentley as last week!. To continue to take customers money knowing that they could not provide the goods amounts to deception, its a simple as that.
I only hope for some reasonable conclusion to all of us who have tried to put a little away for christmas rather than get into debt, Christmas is sacrosanct....justice needs to be done and it needs to be seen to be done by all of us who feel victim, i just hope that the administrators act in our best interests.
Farepak will not spoil my Christmas, no matter how scarce money is.

Doubt that the bosses would have let onto the staff how bad things were. Hence why you got phone calls asking which vouchers were wanted.

The farepak website is supposed to be updated tomorrow by the administrators. I doubt any of us will hear anything in the post this week. In the first instance the administrators must by law advise Companies House within 14 days of the Admin Order that Farepak are in administration. Thereafter they will begin the task ingathering all the information re the assets and liabilities of the Firm etcetera. I wouldnt hold your breath on hearing from them soon. Im kinda just expecting the worst and anything good that happens will be a bonus.

I feel heartfelt sorry for everyone who has lost money with those money-grabbing b~~~~~~s. Unfortunately the Law does not stand up for the Little Guy, nothing will happen to them, they will not be prosecuted and I very much doubt anyone will receive a refund. Think about the staff who have been laid off with no recompense just before Christmas. The Directors will have their extravagant Christmas whilst you poor people will make do - you will still have a good time, but it will be on your mind about the lossess you have had.

I believe "what goes around comes around" and you should take some comfort in that.

I am sorry that I do not have much positivity at the moment but I am a realist if nothing else. My best wishes are with you.
