    Morning all,

Phase 1 of the shopping complete. Skirt appropriately bought and a bargain to boot! Apparently, my skirt never really caught on so I was lucky that the last one in the shop proved a perfect fit. Onward for the iPad...

    Cheers,

    Billy

    Morning Froggy,

Not yet. It was ordered yesterday from PC World and I got it delivered to save me a trip into Edinburgh. Should be here either tomorrow or Wednesday so we'll attack the house tonight to get that ready for the various movements that are required.

    Cheers,

    Billy

    Morning All,

On a slightly more detailed note than the rushed message on Saturday provided, the kilt I got on Saturday is perfect. I'm surprised that the all black number never caught on in any significant way as it still looks fantastic on. I didn't bother with any of the other bits as yet as I'll shop about for those. It was the last kilt in the shop so they knocked it down from £180 to £150. As I was expecting to pay somewhere in the region of £420, I was more than happy. I'll pop into a couple of other shops to scope out the jacket and waistcoat as £330 for those seemed beatable. I've been warned away from a lot of the accessories like the belt and belt buckle, kilt pin and sgian dubh as they're 30th birthday presents that have been long claimed by Moyra's family so those won't come until July. Before then, there's only one wedding where I'll be required to wear my gear (my brother has away and picked this horror orf a tartan for his wedding in May - http://www.tartanregister.gov.uk/tartanDetails.aspx?ref=1521) so I'll borrow a sgian dubh for that one in April.

Speaking of my brother's wedding, some particularly poor best man work has done me out of attending his stag do. It had been set for the 22nd of April (a day of shooting, karting, quad-biking and some other bits and pieces then a night out) but it was put back to the 16th and booked without asking anyone who had confirmed previously if the change in date was ok. Naturally, the 16th is the wedding we're going to in April so that rules out the day and night of that one so I'm not particularly impressed with the organisation or communication skills there. Worse still, I'm now the bad guy because I can't get out of whatever else I'm doing that day to come along.

Onto the iPad - Apple want a word with themselves for the price fixing that they're clearly organising - of all the retailers that sell the 64Gb Wifi Ipad (we won't bother with the 3G as it's pretty slow and we'll mainly use the iPad in the house), the price is £479 across the board. Thankfully, Currys / PC World stuck on their IPADS7 discount code at the weekend so I grabbed my one for £445 with an additional wee bit of quidco to come. I'm pretty sure I got the best deal available - if not, please don't tell me otherwise!! I won't be following a good mate of mine who has pimped his iPad out with a £1,000 Bang and Olufsen speaker dock though!!

Paid a chunk of our credit card off today (quite thankful now that we decided on the 13 months interest free on purchases from Tesco at the end of last year) and I've got the bathroom to go and finalise this week. I'll probably arrange to pick up the tiles at the same time so that we can gauge opinion on how to have the tiles arranged on the walls but we're all go for the 11th-15th of April for getting the bathroom re-done.

Got a really good deal for the Monte Carlo on Friday as well so that gives us another option for the Vegas accommodation. I'm still leaning toward the Tropicana as Moyra doesn't like the noise at the Monte Carlo pool (they do play the music at ear-bleeding volume in fairness to her) but the Monte Carlo has a better gym and sauna and is slightly better situated. The rooms are better in the Tropicana and the pool area is preferable. The casinos in each are both decent enough as are the dining options but we don't use any one place exclusively anyway. What we need to take any decision away is the Bellagio to offer room 1548 as a misprice of around $80 per night!!

    Cheers,

    Billy

    Aloha Froggy,

I'm on the case with an iPad cracker as well. There's a guy in here who is going to see what he can do to jailbreak it which allows for all kinds of movie and TV downloads. Beyond web surfing, the main use for it will be plane entertainment on the flights to and from Vegas in the summer.

What's a skirt without a hairy handbag!? I actually popped across to a design studio today to buy the sporran - a snip at £95 (£175 in Gala!). The big decision was between sealskin which isn't quite as dark or pony skin which is jet black. Not being a massive traditionalist anyway, I've gone for the properly black pony skin sporran with the antique silver thistle top (I'll get a picture on as soon as it arrives). I've seen antique thistle cufflinks, belt buckle and kilt pin that all match perfectly (how sex and the city am I?!) so it's just a case of getting everything together now ahead of mid-April. I might, for the sake of completion, get the birthday parts a wee bit early from the various contributors. Just need to remember not to put on or lose much weight in the next wee while so I can get some wear out of it. the £600 Armani coat I bought a few years ago must have been worn a dozen or so times - firstly as it didn't fit all that brilliantly (the psychology of buying something to eventually fit into worked in the long run) and then because I don't like to get it wet - not a good condition when living in Scotland!

I've not talked to my brother about it yet. It was a flying visit on Saturday and there were a lot of people in but I'll see if there's anything to be done about it next week.

    Thanks,

    Billy
