Funny you should say that... I recently bought some professional shampoo and conditioner from my hairdresser, meant for coloured hair. It's called Dumb Blonde by Bed Head (it's not only for blonde hair, I'm brunette). Since using it I find I could get away with only washing my hair every 3 days if I wanted... apparently it has lots of protein in, maybe that's why? They are 750ml pump action bottles, only need to use a blob the size of a 50p coin... been told the two bottles should last a whole year but I'll be happy if I get 6 months from them. Plus they smell amazing :D

The protein wouldn't help with washing less- if anything it may make you want to wash more as it can weigh hair down if you over use it (but is more likely to make hair brittle and cause breakage if you over use it or use it without needing it). What could be happening is that your simply using less of the product as its a professional line and often requires less of the product to get the same results of high street brands.

Its also a TIGI product and I *think* they have fewer silicons so would again mean its not weighing hair down as much (silicons are one way brands make hair look extra shiny and feel very soft but these can weigh hair down in the short term and in the long term can cause dehydrated/dry damaged hair. If a product has fewer silicons in your hair isn't going to get weighed down as quickly (silicons are fine but then you combine dust and dirt and natural oils and then oils from your hands.... it has a cumulative effect and you end up feeling need to wash your hair).

Could be many things but if it works for you, stick with it!

Well Im amazed people can wash their hair every day, Id worry about stripping it of all its oils if I were washing and drying it every day, not to mention the time it would take! 2 or 3 times a week is my max unless Im on hols.

I'm in London, the pollution is that bad that even on the tube, you blow your nose and the tissue ends up grey/black! You get used to it but then go out of town for a few days...come back and really notice it again! Scary but the exact same amount of dirt is also landing in your hair!

Then there are head rests on trains....yuck yet near impossible to avoid- don't know how often they get cleaned but have you ever tried to look out of the window on a train carrage? seen the oils? thats whats on the back of the headrest only it can't be seen....

I also go to the gym and sweat a disgusting amount- I am not joking when I say I can ring out my clothes- it used to freak me out, now I find it somewhere between amazing and hilarious. I don't think ringing my hair out would get rid of the icky feeling so I would be lost without a shower!

Its fine for me as I think my hair has gotten used to it- tbh I think our bodies get used to whatever we throw at them, hair washing included. I do a hair masque once to twice a week and my hair seems fine- even gets compliemts :)

If I go more than 3 days without washing my hair it becomes very greasy and my scalp itches so I aim for every 2 days.

every other day usually - used to be every day but i cant be bothered anymore and can get away with every other!
if youre hair is slightly oily (like mine) and dont want to wash it ive found that bastise (sp?) dry shampoo is the best one out there - makes your hair look freshly washed again, and its not expensive either

About twice a week, I have 2 'down' days and then 1 or 2 'up' days.

    Same here.

It is quite a chore to wash, dry and straighten mine. On the days when I haven't washed it but still have it 'down' I have to restraighten it, which still takes time.

I am so envious of people with straight or naturally curly hair that drys naturally looking gorgeous. If I left mine to do what it wants I think I would get arrested by the fashion police!

Every other day but this can occasionally be stretched to every third day with the use of some dry shampoo and if I can ignore my entire scalp feeling vile. My problem is a combo of greasy roots and scalp issues - any longer than a few days and I have to fight myself from scratching it.

Every two or three days. If I know I'm not going out for a few days I'll time it so I can not wash my hair for as long as possible(4-5 days usually) and keep it up in a bun the whole time, it really does feel softer after that after a good wash.

Once a week. I wash mine with bicarbonate of soda dissolved in warm water.
It used to get so greasy and lank so I decided to do the 'not wash it for a month' thing and it does work but you have to be determined to last it out.
You can always rinse it with just the shower and no shampoo if you think it is getting dirty during that time as it is the shampoo that strips the oils from your hair, not the wetting with hot water.
