a bottle of sparkling what? for what? I am clearly not a conniseur of water as I can't taste the difference between most bottles and tap water - except Volvic - which tastes like the suplhur ridden soils it runs through - bleugh!
I agree with you, Volvic is terrible. For sparkling supposedly one must buy naturally carbonated (better for teeth etc...) but the price is now ridiculous.

I'm not sure I want to ask this...but how does one get water to be naturally carbonated? :rotfl:

What a lovely OH you have.

Donna~Take it easy & I hope your back improves soon.
Im currently taking balclofen, diazapen(As its so bad) & naproxen.
I certainly couldent imagine having to lift a wee one
Take care with your back Donna - I agree with beanielou about rest and pain relief. If you have a TENS machine, or can borrow one, have a go with it...I have used TENS for years, was a guinea-pig for trials in 1983!!!

Oh dear beanielou...hope your back recovers soon too...the naproxen I was taking last year gave me ulcers, so I am off NSAIDs forever now!! Thankfully my back is manageable
atm, with the TENS machine, paracetamol and regular visits to the Physio....and trying to be sensible...hard though that is! :o
    And today makes number 6!

Fast forward to Saturday 20 November, late evening....

A darkened auditorium. A door creaks open to reveal a transitory shaft of light, enough to reveal that there is an audience of hundreds waiting with bated breath....a solitary figure creeps in and the door is shut quickly. The figure creeps furtively like a furtive thing down the aisle and then the lights come up to reveal Nargleblast stepping up to the podium, ready to receive the NSD Wet Kipper In The Mush Award for having four spendy days in a row......

.....The hairdresser on Thursday (I may be poor but I got style!).....
    :rotfl:Love it Nargle!! :rotfl:
I am off to the hairdressers on Thursday too...first time in over 16 years . It's not that I haven't had it cut in all that time ;), I usually get a friend to do it. She can't do it next week...so I am off to part with extortionate amounts of money for a full re-style, with loads of colour...can't wait!! This is part of my birthday treat...though don't think DH thought it was going to cost THAT much!!!!:eek::D

I prefer tap water, chilled and possibly filtered...does me and my purse fine :D

Oops...quite a long post and no news of NSDs...another post methinks!!

Well, we got the car back on Saturday...£250!!:eek: But as DH says...it's still way cheaper than a "new" car ...but a load of money though :(!

Well, yesterday was quite a spendy day in the end :( As the car had to be paid for and needed to be topped up with diesel...I went and did a bit of food (and craft) shopping too. Got quite a bit of baking stuff (for the cake & mince pies) in the 3-4-2 offers at Mr T. :D

Spoon today was an NSD though, making it Number 9 :j!
Not sure if I will be spending tomorrow...am at an Enterprising Women Conference all day, which I paid for weeks ago (and includes lunch), so hopefully I won't need to part with any money...there's free parking too!! I'll let you know how it goes.

Now off to get some ironing done....:(. I HATE ironing!!!!

Double figures for me today - #10 achieved :T

Vet did give the dog a course of anti-inflams, and also gave me instructions not to walk him for the next 10-12 days - and then only for 5 mins on a short lead and slow speed for a couple of days until he goes back for a check up. Flamin' typical when I've got a week off work and was planning an 8-10 mile walk every day  Biggest concern is over what the problem is..... she agreed with me it could be muscular, and is unlikely to be skeletal (as in a fracture/break) as he's happy to put his weight on the leg and stood there quite happily while she manipulated it. But apparently he's also the right age for arthritis to be starting up  So a couple of weeks on the meds and then a review, but could end up needing an X-ray to rule out anything else/determine what it actually is - in which case bang goes the rest of my Frugal Living budget for this year..... and then some :( On the bright side she was really impressed by how much weight he's lost since he went for his booster (27 days ago).

Spent the latter part part of this afternoon (after a 3 mile run) making a start on sorting out/making an inventory of my kitchen cupboards - 2 down, 8 to go !!
(and then all the boxes etc scattered around the house, plus the App F00ds delivery which is due tomorrow)

In the meantime, if anyone sees me anywhere near the baked beans, tinned tomatoes, tinned tuna or pasta sauces in the next ?????? months will you please shout at me to step away rolleyes2.gif
17 tins, 10 tins, 13 tins and 29 jars + 1 tin respectively found and logged so far - and I don't even like baked beans unless they're cooked into something

I'm currently only putting full packs/jars/tins etc back into the cupboards (or part packs where the contents can be easily counted, such as instant soup in a mug things), and all part used items are going into a box. I'm now going to try using up/finishing off some of the part used things before year end, which will in itself clear some more kitchen space - especially when I have multiples of things open (incl 3 jars of marmalade, 2 of which are pretty similar) or only dregs to use up (a large M@rmite jar that wants rinsing out with very hot water to make a soup type drink)

Am going shopping either Thursday (most likely) or Friday (would mean after physio, though that's an early appt) and will lose an NSD then. I really must get material and rods to rig up some curtains for my front and back doors as the hallway (where the dog sleeps at night) is getting pretty arctic!! Have never noticed it before, but have never kept the living room door closed as much before so I guess it was getting heat through from in here (used to have a stair gate in place to stop the dog coming in when his company wasn't desired, which was one that fitted inside the frame and was a pain to remove/put back so just stayed in place while the door stayed open. But it's fallen apart in the last 6 months or so and I've not replaced it, so the door is now firmly shut several house an evening).

However, even with the c/heating thermostat being in the artic hall which is no doubt one reason my gas useage is looking higher than this time last year, I have managed to get a reduction on my monthly D/Debit for my gas & electic :D Phoned with readings this morning, and the first offer was a £1/month reduction which I almost found insulting (and probably would have done had the chap not sounded so apologetic when he read out what the computer was telling him). Once I'd quoted some figures based on the bills from the last 12 months he did something else to the system and came back with a 'best offer' which was £5.50/month down on my current payment - so I asked him to reduce my D/Debit by £4 a month which threw him completely ;) But he grasped where I was coming from when I said I don't want to be in debt this time next year if prices go up by much, nor do I want a huge increase in 12 months time. Hopefully I'll still have some credit left, as the last 12 months bills includes 9.5months of DS being here on his computer - so the electricity at least should be way under current estimation :)

ETA: Nargle - loved your post :rotfl: And I still have the wet kipper here, though it's starting to pong a bit now as I didn't like to refreeze it after thawing it out last time I thought it was needed ;)

Cheryl - I hope 'dog' is ok and it's not the onset of arthritis, although I do believe this can be 'managed' with diet and supplements as well as some medication - I am hoping you have him insured and my pet insurance did cover Big G when he developed Feline CRF (including his vetinary diet). If he does need x-rays, would your insurance cover this? I am sure mine did for Big G's blood tests etc.

If you have any spare Branston beans send 'em my way - I much prefer them to any other brand. I am very impressed that you have so much stockpiled - remind me again how big your mansion is? lol!

    No insurance.

When we got him he was suffering some kind of skin condition and the vet also thought he detected a heart murmer. Either of these bumped up the premium while adding loads of exclusions onto a policy (never could understand how they could do both!), and the two together made it down-right ridiculous.

What I've saved in premiums over the last 6 years is probably more than he cost me in Sept '09 (op to remove kidney stones) and could cost me for X-rays now, but unfortunately I didn't put the money to one side as I would if I were starting out now on my much reduced income. I don't even get any of the benefits that would let me apply for help through any of the animal charities :(

    They're all Br@nston ;)
DD would nab them if she knew though.......
