    Morning folks,

Just a quick post, very sad news, my FIL passed away very suddenly yesterday evening. We had to rush through to Glasgow, but it was too late. Will be MIA for a few days as we are back through today so OH and BIL can make the arrangements.
We are totally shell shocked as it was all so sudden.

Will be popping in as and when I can,

    Have a lovely day everyone:)

(((((Hugs))))) to you and your family jinty, and, as someone else has said already, don't forget to look after yourself as well as everyone else.
Hi Keiss, wow you have been a busy bee. I love the socks (I'm definitely going to have a go now, my feet are always freezing) and the beanie hats are great. Your cross stitch pictures are brilliant - I especially love the cat one. Just a suggestion - if you wanted to use a red frame for your sister's present (I think it would look great), you could use some enamel paint and paint the wooden one when it arrives. I've done that in the past when I needed a coloured frame and couldn't find the right size and it works a treat.

You've inspired me. I have umpteen projects on the go which I haven't touched for ages.. going to dig them out again and carry on where I left off.

    Thanks for the piccies:j:j
    spoon x
Thanks for that Spoon....the frame is oval and plastic...but you have got me thinking...I have a small 4" circular frame I use when sewing...I could either paint it red or cover it in red ribbon!! I could possibly manage to cover the plastic oval frame in ribbon though....you are a genius Spoon!!! :T

Definitely declaring today as NSD no 3...been to see my friend, and now back home and about to do some crafting this afternoon.

Have a great day everyone...no fireworks here as our dog hates them!!

I agree it is a horrible driech day...such a wonderful descriptive word!!!

Got this description from Urban Dictionary:

    Dreich (Old Scots origin)

A combination of dull, overcast, drizzly, cold, misty and miserable weather. At least 4 of the above adjectives must apply before the weather is truly dreich
    .

So it's truly dreich today then!!! ;)

:( so sorry jintyb. That's terrible news.

Thursday was a NSD (2 NSDs for Nov). Today I had to pop to the shops. I got
2 carrots 24p, shin of beef £3.63 (steak & ale pie, stew with dumplings as many meals as I can stretch it into!) H/roast turkey £1, 18 eggs £1.74, 2 tomatoes 46p, Custard doughnuts(!) 50p, 2 onions 23p, custard creams (dog's favourite) 19p, beef suet 75p, tortilla chips 25p, sweetcorn 32p, tuna 45p, mushrooms (handful) 27p All in all £10.03 not bad really.

I was really proud of myself that I had the cash in my purse to pay for it, and I didn't need a card at the till.

    :)
Total debt cleared so far £7281.44
    Total debt remaining £2130.85

  • BDINI - Your cooking always sounds fabulous!! I would love to be able to cook like that! You should write your own recipe book!!! I'd buy it!

Diana, i'd love to be able to tell you how i do it, but honestly whatever i make i just chuck things in & hope for the best!!!! I guess i'm just lucky that i have a knack that means they normally turn out good (that & an MSE need to make sure every food item that enters my house gets used one way or another!! :D)
I'll try & make an effort to write down what goes in the beef & guinness pie tho & let you know (if it's edible that is!!)

And if you're anything like me, the concentrating helps it go all wrong
I got a bit of a bargain--well, a MASSIVE bargain tbh :D--when I found a lump of brisket in Cheryl's make of shop, reduced form almost eight quid to £2:29 :j We had a gorgeous roast yesterday & there's more than enough for today, & that's for 4 adults & Pup. The meat came out ssssooo good I'm wondering whether to keep my
[STRIKE]knackered[/STRIKE]beloved cooker for a bit longer :rotfl:

Just as well I'd already told you that my shopping trips are dependent on me muvva :undecided Admittedly Tues evening the local weather forecast for today was not good, so she wanted to go back out yesterday & we took advantage by going to all the little places while in the mood. I'm hoping to go to our local-ish open-air market on Sunday to get the :santa2: meat, as the butcher does some really good deals & the stuff I've had before has been wonderful  so I may get today & tomorrow as nsds.

Not looking forward to tonight as Pup thinks the fireworks are coming to get us & starts getting all defensive :o They haven't been a problem till this year so perhaps he's getting into the 'I've got to protect Mum' mode now he's almost 3 :D The other day he sat bolt upright, stared thru the lounge toward the kitchen window, growled in the depths of his throat & squished up tight so he was between me & the kitchen. I've no idea what was outside but it bothered him...Bless :smileyhea

....OH is totally shell-shocked so I'm just trying to do what I can. FIL was a lovely man and I got on really well with him. Just shows what can happen in a very short space of time.:(

With that in mind - get going with the Friday wiggle girls, life is for living!

PS Glad you liked my sig Spoon, I read that a while ago when I was worrying about my debts etc and it just struck a chord;)

    Speak soon,

    Jints x
My lovely FIL passed when my eldest was just three weeks old so I can fully empathise :o He hadn't been ill for long--maybe three months--& a bit of a shock as even so, we were not expecting it. But I'm glad he didn't have to suffer; he would have hated being so reliant on others--as my own father would have--so in a strange kind of way, I'm thankful they passed as they did.
We only have my mum now, but the three who have gone before & my luvverlee maiter, would all say the same: get out there & LIVE as you are stuck with the alternative for a long, long time. ((HUGS)) to you & yours m'dear & Take Care x
