Thought I was the only one looking in pets at home and thinking "hmmmm you'll fatten up nicely..." :rotfl:

Seriously tho then I've never had a problem getting hold of rabbit... I have easy access to 3 butchers and all 3 sell rabbit... I'll still settle for rabbit from my farmer tho ;) freshly shot and cheap and I just have to skin them :) Now if only I knew what to do with the skin to make it into something usefull :D

We live in North Yorkshire and our local butcher sells rabbits for about 2 quid each and they have already been skinned and gutted and beheaded and all that.

Definitely the proper type of weather for a nice slow cooker rabbit stew I'd say.
It's not easy having a good time. Even smiling makes my face ache.

I have a few wild ones pop into my garden occasionally. I recon I could catch one easily enough but do I need to watch out for anything? What about Myxiwhatsit, will that be obvious?
Similarly pheasents are common visitors too and in season I think, any tips?

Why not keep them a la 'Jean De Florette'? You could get old greens from the local greengrocer for nowt. My dad used to do this and we always had meat no matter how skint we were.

Hi, a rabbit with myxomatosis is pretty easy to spot. They look really poorly, and don't move much. Take a look here if you're interested. IMO, if a rabbit has myxomatosis, it's a kindness to put it out of its misery.

As to your other question, is it pheasants or peasants you're having trouble with? There's currently a thread on how to serve pheasant here. Can't give advice on peasants. :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

Thanks for that, I know its not everybody who likes to catch their own food but I think it helps one appreciate what is on the plate. I reckon that most peasants will actually make a meal of me so will stick to pheasants for now.
