    Morning all!

Hadthe first lie in for ages and had brekkie in bed and a read of my new PJ Tracy book which is great!
We're off shopping soon, there's a new Aldi opened about 10 miles away - we have no big supermarkets any closer than that - so am looking forward to getting some bargains there!:j
Also off to a wholefood place to get a huge bag of "Survival Muesli" which is yummy and has no added salt or sugar, should be enough to last at least a month.

SnowyOwl - I try and limit myself to 1 muffin a day as a treat but its soooooo hard! theres also a recipe for low Gi chocolate brownies which had kidney beans in it(cant taste them - but they add fibre) if you are interested.

Kethry - well done on the weight loss!:D

Thriftlady - those chips sound fab! wish I wasn't on a healthy eating regime!

Hope you all have a lovely day and hugs to anyone in need!
    Take care all!

Csarina :grouphug: I know what you mean, we seem to be stuggling all the time and never seem to get ahead! Thanks to OS we live much more cheaply than we used to but seem to be no better off.
My one consolation is that we are paying off our debts and getting no further into debt so everyday is one day closer to being debt-free and better off!
Plus we are much healthier and greener!:j

    Hiya everyone,

Last night I had the best night's sleep in over a fortnight. Bliss. I woke up though with my eyelids glued shut. I have conjunctivitis now with my flu. I am so lucky. :D Got some drops from the chemist so they should be fine in a couple of days. Been cladding the outside of the house the last few days with DH & DGS. You should see the state of him when I bring him home. We have red dirt.

I have booked him into Day Care for Mon & Friday's which will help a lot. I then can help DH much more and organise all the other stuff for the house. Time is running out as we only have 4 weeks left off this lease. We don't want to renew it for another 6 months.

I have to fill out all the forms this weekend and go there on Monday so he may start this Friday. :j :D

Well off to have a wee surf and then do the forms. Hope you all enjoy your Saturday and ((((((((((((((hugs))))))))))))) for those who need them. Byeee
Don't worry about the world coming to an end today. It's already tomorrow in Australia. ;)

  • Morning all. <hugs> to Csarina, I know how you feel, we seem to be taking two steps forward and three steps back all the time. Haven't had our water bill yet but am dreading it even though I tried very hard through the summer to save water.

Bertie Meldrew, that list of songs brought back so many memories! We loved the Rolf Harris one as children, and also the Big White Boomer one which was on the back of the single of I've Lost my Mummy. Drove my parents mad, I'm sure ;)

Have woken up with a streaming cold and am very  about it. Not sure where I've got it from; I've been here all week, hardly gone out at all, eat about 8 portions of fruit and veg a day and drink loads of water. So where has it come from?

Because I felt rough yesterday afternoon I finally cracked and put the heating on, but have turned it right down today as I'm overheating.

Not many OS plans today, I'm going to make a batch of veggie soup and that's about it, I think. Have an invitation to a friend's website launch party and was hoping to go and see The History Boys with OH tonight, but will see how I feel.

    Breakfast: Bacon butty
Lunch: Veg soup and HM roll
Dinner: ? possible a portion of leftover beef casserole

    Have a fun day everyone
    FF xx

    csarina,

I'm surprised your water bill is that high! We're in manchester, with United Utilities, and granted, we're not on a meter but i pay 10.86 every 2 weeks on a card to them... that works out to about £130 over 6 months - quite a large difference (and i tell you, if we went on a meter we'd be paying a lot more! OH loves his baths).

Have you tried contacting the water body, to make sure you really *are* actually using all that water? I ask, cos i read in the paper once about a guy who got a huge bill (and i mean in the thousands) and when he queried it with the water company, he was told "you must have a leak", so he ripped his house apart trying to find this leak. Finally he got fed up and turned it off at the mains to try to trace it. 10 minutes later, there was a knock on the door and a neighbour was there with soapy hair asking if he was having problems with his water. it was only when another neighbour came out too that the penny dropped: his meter, his water, was feeding water to the entire cul-de-sac he lived in and that by turning the water off, he'd turned off the water for everyone in the cul-de-sac, but more importantly, he was also paying the bill for everyone else (and so were they - the water company was basically charging twice for the same water).

I don't remember which company it was with, but it does pay to get that kinda thing checked and dispute the bills. We're doing something similar with Gas and Powergen (don't ask) and i'm still hoping to get some money shaved off at the end of it all.

There may also be some help - there is for specific segments of the population - but you have to ask for it... it won't just get given to you automatically. worth checking out.

finally, you could always ask if you can pay on a card, not a meter type card (where you put the card in the meter) but where you go to the post office and pay a bit each week, i do all my bills that way (with the exception of the internet and house insurance) and it works out really well, don't have to worry too much about any big bills, just go to the post office and pay the cards. It might work out a bit more expensive though, thats the only problem.

try not to let it get you down, sweetie.. *huggggggggggggsssssss*

    HAs anyone seen JO138 lately???
  • Hi Everyone
I haven't posted for ages, as I can no longer access this sight from work.
Csarina, you have my sympathy. We are in the same boat.
Mortgage has gone up from £303 a month to £443.
My dental bridge has dropped out, went to the dentist only to be told that it cannot be replaced on NHS so will cost £900 plus.
My wages at work have been reduced as part of my wages was for covering reception, which I can no longer do, without my teeth, lol!
Just to add insult to injury, my car is making a funny noise & it sounds like one of the wheel bearings is going.
What a life, I often wonder what sins I commited in a past life to have to live like this now, lol.
    Hugs to all.

    morning all!

It's a bit murky here in surrey.. We've not too much planned today, except I'm going to try curry queens recipe for - can you guess? - curry!

WM just finished the 2nd load. We've done the big shop at Sainsbury's (I know :o ) but only spent £70 and it should see us until the end of the month (2 adults, 1 child, 1 dog) so not too bad really. DD asleep at the moment, so thought I'd come on for a little bit...not looking forward to chopping all those onions!!

    hugs to you all
