Morning all!
We've had a quiet night out because one of our friends wasn't well.
Have to take the cat to the vets this morning for his booster, the little git won't let me sleep because he's disgusted he's under house arrest until the vet visit is over. My stance on cruelty to animals is starting to get reconsidered if he doesn't shut up!
Then when I'm finished with vet trip it's on to processing picked things and typing up the minutes of my charities latest meeting. Damn! I thought Hon Sec wasn't much work, turns out I'm wrong, if it wasn't such a worthy cause I'd run away!
Hope everyone has a lovely day and Fri 13th wasn't serious bad luck for anyone!

Hi, this is the Daily Thread for 14th October. This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything OS and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an OS natter. The more the merrier!
When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem, we’re a laid back bunch here so you won’t hear any complaints.
Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” type start does just as well.

My Doctor told me that "1 out of 3 people who start smoking will eventually die." The other two apparently became immortal.

Hello everyone - Hi Mirakl good morning!
Well, I haven't been to bed yet...been reading the Complete Tightwad Gazette - it's a rather thick volume but I've nearly finished it! It'll be a useful reference book for the future as the author has had a money saving idea on just about every topic you could imagine.
I didn't quite manage to get my cranberry and cinnamon muffins done, as recommended by Taplady as I didn't have all the ingredients in. I will pop to the supermarket today to get the bits and pieces and get on with it. The G.I.Diet is going fine - I'm probably not doing it right! I have consumed so much veg and fruit this past week it's unreal but so good for me. Taplady's muffins are OK on this diet...though I don't think it's OK to eat the entire batch all at once. I'll have to hide them in the freezer...
I hope everyone is OK and has a fantastic weekend.

Morning Chums,
joints are a bit achy this morning hence the reason I am up and about this early. I have so much to do today as well. I have to finish a card this morning for my craft class as it's our last one on Monday. Then I have my grandson coming this morning to study in my sitting room for a bit of peace and quiet from his four siblings.
This afternoon I have my Sister-in-Law coming, and we are off to see Helen Mirren in The Queen at the cinema.I am making dinner for us when we get back I think we shall have roast pork steaks rolled in herby stuffing and gently roasted with some winter veggies . In between I have a HUGE pile of ironing to get through. Tomorrow I am off to Ally Pally to the Knit and Stitch fair there. I love going there every year as I can get lots of bargains in wool and crafty bits ect.So it's going to be a busy week-end for me . I shall take some of my pain-kikkers if my joints keep on as I haven't time to be hobbling around.
I hope everyone has a great week-end and hugs to those who need them.0 -
Good Morning to the early birds and all who follow!
Very cold here this morning so need to wrap up warm for DS3 footy match this morning, then we are off to buy new fish for dd, and then to spend DS1 birthday money. ( its just burning a whole in his pocket, i mean hes had it all of 3 day and he just has to spend it!!!!)
Charity race night last night was great fun and we raised over £500 for the kids football teams, we ended up leaving the car, so have to go and get it before footy!!!! It seemed a good idea at the time!!It doesnt this morning.
Os today baking bread and empty wash baskets all three of them!
Hope you all have a wonderful day

Good morning all. I guess since this is "old style" and most of you are ladies then I should "toff my cap" also
In spite of the fact that yesterday's poll showed that we blokes are in a 10% minority my self-esteem is as high as ever this morning! My OH laughed when I told her and assures me she won't think any the less of me for belonging to a "WI".
We had an excellent OS evening insomuch as we took our GDs, who have stayed overnight, for a pizza. That certainly wasn't the OS bit but the journey was! We have a CD "Hello Children Everywhere" and they love it! Clearly their chums parents/grandparents aren't as loopy as theirs are which means that they don't drive along the road singing, amongst others:
...Nellie the Elephant
...Jake the Peg
...The Runaway Train
...Gilly Gilly Ossenfeffer Katzenellenbogen By The Sea
...etc. etc
The best one has to be Rolf's classic (!) "I've lost my mummy"... I have tears of laughter streaming down my face as they bellow it out.
Funny really, the GDs are 37 and 33
No, only joking (8 & 5)... but listening to that stuff really brings back memories of Archie Andrews, Daisy May etc etc. and I guess you don't get much more OS than that
Final note...one of their other favourites is... "Don't Sit Under the Apple Tree" - Glenn Miller!!!
Are we spoiling their upbringing?
Apart from all that we had a great evening. The Italian we go to is a superb place - and especially at 1800 on a Friday. They love children there (especially in a Bolognaise sauce) and the GDs love the place. OK... not OS eating but certainly an OS family meal out!
They're going home today but are back for a few nights at half-term... more opportunities for me to revert to childhood
We've also got a good friend of ours up from Leicester for a long weekend so it's more over-indulgent eating and "good OS English breakfasts" (the only time we ever have them!).
First stop today, when we take the GDs home, is the neighbouring farm who have a sheepdog trial on all day. The GDs are dog-mad (they have to be when they come to us - one of our four being a Border Collie which we "inherited" from DS - their Dad - when GD'2 arrived).
Anyway... I hope your day is as enjoyable as ours looks like being... have a nice one!0 -
Morning Guys!
Another bad night here, and like Jackieo-I think the weather isnt helping.
WM is on, DW needs emptying and tilet has been cleaned.
Cleaner (SIL) didnt turn up yesterday so poor OH was very busy as we had nephew and his soon to be wife here for dinner last night.
Today DD is going to a cinema preview in london with one of my freinds and her DD and friends-so it should be a nice few hours out for them. DD has done all her HW for the weekend as she was up till about 10pm last night doing it:eek:
OH & I may go to the cinema if Im feeling a little better later. If not, we have many films we could watch here.
Breakie: Sausage, Egg and beans
Lunch: Baked Spud
Dinner: Chicken, roasties, yorkies, cauli, french beans, carrots
Have a good day everyone.

Morning!
For some reason the PC is on the blink this morning (sticking on the black start up screen - which doesnt seem too good) so i had to break out the laptop. I try and keep it off the internet as much as possible in the avoidance of virus damage etc because i use it a lot for my photography and to lose my hard drive would be an absolute nightmare!
Watched ep 2 of series 3 of lost last night which was fun, downloaded off the internet. I also tool delivery of my beautiful dining chairs and promptly sticky pawed them as the cat had an evil glint in her eye. She hasnt attempted a scratch yet so maybe she knows im already trying to catch her out!
I have to work today - good job the pay is good and i finish at 3, and intend to nip out on my break to buy a dining table protector to make sure boyf and cat dont destroy it! I feel like im the only responsible adult who can be trusted with such things!
Anyway - must dash as i have plenty to be getting on with and I have to try waking boyf up so he can take me to work, there is a fish he wants from the tropical fish shop that we think will come out of quarantine today and i know lots of people are interested in him and he needs to get there at 9am to ensure he gets what he wants. On that note, im off to shower and try and wake the dead!

Ah the memories you brought back with those songs bertie . The saturday morning childrens records programme. Archie Andrews who for years I thought was a real little boy:rotfl: :rotfl: shows the power of the wireless in those days . you could never spoil their upbringing with those songs . Kids love to sing daft songs and the dafter the better.
I sometime end up sitting on the floor with three of my youngest grandsons teaching them the silly songs of my young days . They love it and fall about laughing at their soppy old Granny. You are giving them precious memories for their old age:T0 -

Good morning everyone! Had a lovely evening - supper at a friend's house, for 10 of us. Good food and excellent company. Didn't drink too much, but stayed drinking coffee until 2am, and up at 7am for the children to go to swim club. I feel a bit dopey, atm.
Quick swish and swipe around the house, then off to collect DD and we're going looking for clothes in the charity shops. We'll also have a large hot choc in a gorgeous little cafe.
DS is off with DH playing football. We're away to the team that's top of the league, so the plan is to not lose too badly.
Going to see The History Boys at the pictures this evening with DH. We'll probably go for a drink afterwards, as we don't seem to have had any proper time together at all this week.
Have a good day, everyone,
Penny. x:rudolf: Sheep, pigs, hens and bees on our Teesdale smallholding :rudolf:0
